9 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”
What a beautiful picture. I was so moved when I read it.
All nation, tribe, people, and tongues… standing before the throne
Before the Lamb, clothes with white robes.. with palm branches in their hand
And they cry “Salvation belongs to our God…” “who sit on the throne, and to the lamb”
Finally its clear, no debate. It has been made known that there is no one else that can save.
No sun god or moon god
Not Zeus or Apollo
To Baal or Diana
Not Muhammad or he big fat Buddha
not Hare Krishna nor Confucius
there is not more than one way..
all over the world.. the realization and affirmation is revealed and declared.. salvation belongs to God!!!
And if you are confused as to which one.. the only one.. the one clearly seen here sitting on the throne.. The Lamb…
They affirm the source of salvation and how that salvation was delivered to us.
Salvation belongs to God, who sit on the throne and to the lamb..
Now the word Salvation come from the Greek Word Soteria. This means Freedom form Jail or prison, Healing, and Deliverance from sin and enemies.its the state of not being in grave danger. Placed in the proper relationship with God.
Come from the SoZo. To save rescue deliver or heal. To save from danger or distress.
Soteria = salvation
Sozo = Saved
In systematic theology there is:
Bibliology - the study of the Bible. Theology Proper - the study of the doctrine of God. Christology - the study of Jesus. Pneumatology - the study of the Holy Spirit. Anthropology - the study of humanity.
Angleology – Study of angle Ecclesiology - the study of the Church. Eschatology - the study of last things or end times.
One bible teacher says, “Christian identify is established in soteriology (the doctrine of salvation), because Christianity find its starting point and its uniqueness in addressing the question of how humanity is saved.”
Notice what they cried… Salvation belong to God..
Meaning God is both the source and provider..
It is not I, who has saved myself but the one seated on the throne and the lamb..
What lamb?
I remember the story in Genesis
7 But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” Then he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” 8 And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together.
Abraham take his son up upon the command of God to offer him up as an offering..
On his way up he tells his young men
5 Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey, and I and the lad will go over there; and we will worship and return to you.”
We will come back to you
Then the boy says wait a minute I see fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”
Notice Abrahams response
8 And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together.
8 And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.”
Then….
10 And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. 11 But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” So he said, “Here I am.” 12 And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.” 13 Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.
There was a ram in the thicket..
The ram took his son place but Abraham said a lamb…
Whats the difference? Well a lamb a baby sheep. A youngster, this speaks of innocence
A ram is used for breeding as does not have that same innocence…
Abraham was speaking prophetically and it was not revealed fully what he meant till John the Baptist came and declared in
29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
“Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
Me and the lad will go up to worship and WE will return to you…
Why? Because God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.”
You don’t have to die Isaac,
Because the lamb of God will take your place
You don’t have to go to hell.. because salvation belong to God and the lamb
That’s way in
11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.”
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
To receive power and riches and wisdom,
And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”
The lamb was slain because..
says,
23 “Do I have any pleasure in the death of the wicked,” declares the Lord God, “rather than that he should turn from his ways and live?
He don’t enjoy sending no body to Hell
His desire is that we would turn to him
9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
He patient because he is wanting us to repent..
Listen people, “Salvation belongs to the Lord”
45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
Meaning the debt you made, God paid….
You ain’t got to go to hell…
Why? Because the Lamb was slain
The innocent Lamb of God took your sin upon himself to make you righteous
21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
9 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands;
White, meaning his own righteousness we wear..
with palm branches in their hands… this represents victory..
15 and he said, “Listen, all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: thus says the Lord to you, ‘Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God’s.
For the battle is not yours, but God's.
31 The horse is prepared for the day of battle, But victory belongs to the Lord.
57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Salvation is victory over Hell.. for those who choose Him
One man said, “It is the Godfather, not God the Father, who makes you an offer you can’t refuse.”
9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
Recused… listen, you don’t have to go to hell…
Salvation is unique to the Christian because it does not begin with the action of the person.. it begin, first with the action of God…
He chose us before we chose him
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
His death for us give us the ability to have life.. Eternal life…
Even before we were stuck in sin the bible says, the lamb was slain before the foundation of the earth….
I don’t have to go to hell
