The Aftermath

Matthew 27:62–66 ESV

The next day, that is, after the day of Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate and said, “Sir, we remember how that impostor said, while he was still alive, ‘After three days I will rise.’ Therefore order the tomb to be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples go and steal him away and tell the people, ‘He has risen from the dead,’ and the last fraud will be worse than the first.” Pilate said to them, “You have a guard of soldiers. Go, make it as secure as you can.” So they went and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone and setting a guard.

The Ideal Messiah

The disciples and the Jewish people thought Jesus was going to overthrow Roman rule because that is what the Messiah was suppose to do.

Yet, God had other plans...

Have you had plans that didn’t go according as planned?

Their Messiah wasn’t suppose to die. Peter confronted Jesus about him not going to the cross but he, like Satan, had only human concerns.

Sometimes our will is full of just human concerns and not of God.

Here the text tells us that God’s plan was much better than they anticipated.

Even while Jesus body was heavily guarded God was about to unveil his master plan.

Resurrection

Jesus Rises from the grave and defeats sin!

What was lost in the garden of Eden, life, has now been gained through the resurrection of Christ, THE Messiah

Nothing stopped Jesus from saving us from sin, ultimately,

Because He Lives

Now Jesus also performed many other signs in the presence of the disciples which are not recorded in this book,

Jesus was not like any other “messiah”

He lives! And just like how he performed miracles then after his resurrection while in the presence of his disciples, he is performing them now!

Whether through dreams, visions, or signs, miracles are still being performed till this day!
