Last weeks Review

Alright, today, since It has been 2month that I shared the word of God with you, now once again, I would like to recollect our previous lessons so that we can keep going to our final direction which is knowing the reason why we need the gospel of Jesus.

Gospel of Jesus

However, before we begin to recall our memories, I want to clarify (클래어 파이) the meaning of gospel.

And here is the reason why you and I need to understand the meaning of gospel.

In book of Mark 16:15.

Here, Jesus, after His resurrection, met His disciples and said this to them.

I would like read this passage with you since this is a commandment of God not only for me but, for all of us.

Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Mark 16:15

Here, our Lord Jesus commended us to do this. Go into the all world and Proclaim what? The Gospel!

Jesus says Proclaim the gospel to the whole creation!

Not only to your family. Not only to your close friends. Not only to your favorite person. But, who? to the whole creation of God!

This is the reason why there are many missionaries who leave their sweet homes and go into the countries in Africa, Asia, and even amazon jungle.

And this is the reason why there are many pastors such as me in this world?

And this is the reason why there are such Companies who try to do something weird like this?

True Christian is the person who proclaims the gospel of Jesus not merely because it is His commandment but because they know the precious truth in the Gospel.

Now, then what is the meaning of Gospel?

Here is the origin of the word Gospel.

Gospel: The word gospel is derived from the Anglo-Saxon term god-spell, meaning “good story,” and bible translator used this word when they translate the Greek word euangelion which means good news in the New Testament of the Bible.

So, the simple meaning of Gospel is “good news”

Now, then let us talk about the reason why we need this gospel, the good news?

Number 1. We remember God says,

All human is under sin.

The word of God says, people in this world are sinner not merely because they commit many different types of sins, but because, no one seek God the creator of this world.

And You remember we have talked about Human’s world views. There were numerous intelligent men who denied existence of God.

They trusted their limited knowledge and their five senses rather than the word of God in the Bible.

And we saw that this human’s unbelief is not because they truly do not know His existence but because their sinful nature intentionally suppress the truth of God.

In book of Romans 1:18-19, Paul says this.

their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be mknown about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.

What truth they press down? The truth of God’s existence.

Simply saying, people know that God exists, yet they press down this truth because they want to live their lives according to their will and desire, not the will of God.

And because of this sinful heart and lifestyles what has happened as its result?

God punished their unrighteousness.

2. The result of sin is God’s punishment.

How?

Anyone remember the God’s punishment that Paul explains in the book of Romans 1:18-25?

Here, you see Paul says because of human’s sin that they do not seek their God even though they knew the existence of God, therefore in verse 24.

God gave them up in the lust of their hearts.

What is this meaning? God leave them in their sinful lifestyle. God make a decision that He does not care about them until the day of their final punishment at the throne of God after their death.

3. Now, because God gave up about human being, therefore there was no way to find the way to the salvation of God.

Our heart became like stone which means we not only listen to the word of God, but now we even accuse his glory joyfully walking the way of sins.

And because of our ungodliness, now we can not be with the Holy God and the only thing that we deserve is eternal punishment of God in hell.

Look at this word of Jesus.

Jesus says those who do not listen and follow the word of God will be in this punishment.

New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update Chapter 25

Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘aDepart from Me, accursed ones, into the beternal fire which has been prepared for cthe devil and his angels;

Bible clearly says that because of our sinfulness and unrighteousness, we can not have salvation of God but eternal punishment.

However, if we look at the book of Romans 3:21, Paul says there is a good news for all of us.

21 But now athe righteousness of God bhas been manifested apart from the law, although cthe Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— 22 the righteousness of God dthrough faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. eFor there is no distinction: 23 for fall have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 gand are justified hby his grace as a gift, ithrough the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God jput forward as ka propitiation lby his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in mhis divine forbearance he had passed over nformer sins. 26 It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

You see here that Paul begins his word with But, However, This simply conjunction clearly shows us Paul’s huge transition of his main idea that the hopeless condition of man now has joyful

amazing good news.

What is the good news?

It is the righteousness of God has been revealed for us sinners.

Before the coming of Jesus, we were all under the power of Satan having no hope of salvation, but now since the coming of Jesus now we have hope of salvation through the righteousness of

God.

What is the righteousness of God?

Look at the verse 22. Here, Paul says, through faith in Jesus, we all receive the righteousness of God that provides us the free gift of God’s salvation.

Here Paul joyfully proclaims that God has shown the way of salvation of sinners that He prepared the perfect righteousness of God that is in His son Jesus.

that if you believe that Jesus is son of God and died on the cross for your sins in your heart, then God promises that He forgives your sin and bestows His perfect righteous in the work of Jesus Christ on the cross.

This is good new from God that now we have the free grace of God in the belief of our Lord Jesus Christ.
