Feelin Thirsty??

The Bible was and is inspired to ignite our creative nature as well as to nurture our daily lives.

Genesis 1:6-7

And God said, “Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water.”   So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so.

ü  Living cells are 70-95% water, and the human body is anywhere between 55-78% water

ü  About 75% of the earth is covered with water

ü  Water exists in three phases, solid, liquid, and gas, and can purify itself in the “water cycle”

ü  Water has a high specific heat (it retains heat better than most materials)

ü  Water is the solvent (medium) for most of the chemical reactions that support life.  Without water, these could not take place.

ü  Many substances are soluble in water, making it ideal for transporting substances around the body

ü  Water is the only substance that expands when it freezes

ü  The average adult body contains 42 liters of water.  A loss of 2.7 liters can bring about dehydration and many other symptoms reaching a state of pathology (any deviation from a healthy or normal condition)

ü  Water influences a dry seed to produce life or even some organisms to come out of hibernation

ü  Water is used to extinguish fires

God made creation around water, in water, over water, and with water.

From the beginning of time, God ordained water under and over us, and hydrated the earth through streams and rivers along the ground, and we know here in S. Louisiana, the humidity around us.

I believe, as I study and consider scriptures, that God uses one event that has no bearing on the surface to anything other than what is going on, to explain something else or bring that other thing into better light.

Romans 1:18-20 says that God is clearly seen through the things that have been made…read it

Ø  There was a river that watered Eden, and from there separated into four waters (Pishon, Gihon, Tigris, Euphrates)

Ø  God cleansed the earth and saved Noah’s family

Ø  The Israelites’ thirst was satisfied through water flowing from a rock

Ø  Moses, instructed by God, threw in a piece of wood in the waters at Marah so they could drink

Ø  The Israelites crossed the Red Sea on dry ground, and the Egyptians drowned in the same waters right behind them

Ø  Elijah drenched the altar with the sacrifice to prove his God before the prophets of Baal

Ø  In Ezekiel 47, there is a description of water flowing from the temple, at one point ankle deep, then knee deep, then waist deep, then too deep to cross

Ø  Jesus was baptized in water, as we are instructed to do

Ø  Jesus told the woman at the well that from him flowed living water, to which, if she drank, would never thirst again.

Ø  Peter walked to Jesus on the waters, and back to the boat with Him

Ø  Jesus told the people on the last day of the Feast (Tabernacles) “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.  Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him” John 7:37-38

Ø  Revelation 22 talks about the river of the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the Throne of God and the Lamb

Think about what I said earlier….

Water in three phases…

Solid…God, who is on the Throne, Creator, Almighty

Liquid…Jesus, who appeared on the earth for a limited time in the flesh

Gas…the Holy Spirit, who, though seen only on occasion, is all around and yet invisible

All three entities, holy, eternal, self-existent, are purity in their natural forms, and influence and change those whom they come in contact with.

The world, and all that is therein will pass away, but God’ word will never pass away.  Our knowledge of Him through study of the Bible, our relationship with him through experience, our first hand experience of how we feel with him in our lives, will flow like streams of living water.  It bubbles to the surface.  It saturates all that is around us.

God’s word is the water that feeds our spirits, that births new relationships with Christ, that purifies us from worldly mindsets and habits, that ends pointless arguments and gossip, that retains the fire of the Holy Spirit, which keeps us from growing cold and calloused.  The Word is what causes the reactions within you that support true life that Jesus wants us to live.  You know, those little sparks and tendencies that work behind the scenes that direct you toward that mark you are striving.  The absence of God’s word in our lives will make us cold, and like water, we will expand, but not in physical size.  We will expand in our own minds, in what we think we know, in what our reason tells us is factual.

And catch that little tidbit of info I said…42 liters in you, with 2.7 causing dehydration…..that’s 21 2-liter drinks inside you, and missing only one causing bad things….How does that reflect your life-style with God’s word?  THINK ABOUT IT!!!!  When you miss one day in the Bible, you become dehydrated spiritually, which causes other things to malfunction, and then what??????

Do you feel the fires of hell coming against you?  The Word will extinguish those flames!!!

Do you feel dry and exhausted?  Springs of Living Water is flowing from the very Throne of God to satisfy your soul!!!

Is your spirit dying more and more each day?  Just a little water on the seeds planted within your life will spark those new, green blades of grass to sprout within you!!!

Have you felt cold?  Are you experiencing bouts of rationalization through human knowledge or wisdom?  The fire of God’s Holy Spirit will melt those human tendencies away and bring about a new, childlike faith in Who He is!!!

Are you feeling thirsty today?  Has life drained you?  Has the devil lied to you?  Deceived you?  Stolen from you?

Come!!! Drink from the waters of Life!!!  Come!!!  There is power in the blood of the Lamb!!!
