Matt 16-20

1. Chapter 16: Jesus Reveals His future Crucifixion

• What did Jesus mean when He responded to the Pharisees asking for a sign that the only sign that would be given was the sign of Jonah? (16:1-12).

• What was important about Peter’s confession of who Christ was? (16:13-20).

• Why did Jesus rebuke Peter so harshly when Peter disbelieved the crucifixion? (16:21-24).

• What did Jesus say a person must do if they choose to follow Him? (16:24-28).

2. Chapter 17: Jesus In His Glory

• Can you imagine what it must have been like to see the Transfiguration of Jesus? What were Peter, James and John response? (17:1-13).

• Why could the disciple not heal lunatic son? (17:14-22).

• Did Jesus support the paying of taxes? (17:24-27).

3. Chapter 18: Important Matters

• Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of God according to Jesus? (18:1-6).

• What is a stumbling block, and why do you think Jesus used such harsh language in describing how serious stumbling blocks are? (18:7-10).

• How important are the lost to Jesus? (18:10-14).

• What is the best way to confront wrongs committed by a fellow believer? (18:15-20).

4. Chapter 19: Family and Possessions

• What was God’s intent for marriage? (19:1-10).

• Why could the young rich rule not accept Jesus invitation? (19:16-26).

• What is a disciple’s reward? (19:27-30).

5. Chapter 20: Laborers, the Savior’s Death and Preferential Treatment.

• Does the Kingdom of Heaven compensation to its laborers seem fair? Why or why not? (20:1-16).

• Do you think the disciples payed attention to Jesus foretelling His death? (20:17-19).

• Jesus told his disciples they should not seek positions in the Kingdome of Heaven, Why? (20:20-28).

• Why do you think the crowd did not want the blind men to get Jesus’ attention? (20:29-34).
