Observations of Sin Vs. Righteousness
4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.
5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.
6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.
8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.
1 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you,
2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come.
3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,
4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things?
6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time.
7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.
8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.
9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,
10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
There are a couple of observations regarding sin and the position of man in contrast to God.
Sin is lawlessness (Romans 4:15; 1 John 5:17)
In Him There is no sin (2 Cor 5:21; 1 John 2:29
He is righteous ( 1 John 1:2; 1 John 3:8)
The devil has sinned from the beginning (John 8:44; 1 John 3:10.
Lawlessness is already at work (Anti-Christ) (1 John 2:18)
The lawless one will be revealed
The Lord will consume (John 16:33)
Sin always begins with delight (Romans 1:32; 1 Cor 13:6)
The Solution:
2 Thess 2:13-17
This is a great challenge to the church today:
1)Give thanks for your salvation often. Bound= Obligation
2) Stand fast and hold the traditions which we were taught (1 Cor 16:13; Rom. 6:17; 1 Cor. 11:2; 2 Thess. 3:6; Jude 3)
3) Comfort your hearts ( 1 Cor 1:8)
4) Get established in every good word and work. (Get prepared- Be found being like him (1 John 3:2-3) Ephesians 6:10-11
