6     So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. 7     Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths. [i]

15     I will put enmity between you and the woman,

and between your offspring and her offspring;

he shall bruise your head,

and you shall bruise his heel.”

Ge 3:5-24

God condems the sin of Adam and Eve which separates man kind from God,  but at the same time promises a savior who will bring us back to grace and salvation.

What is Baptism?

Baptism is not just plain water, but it is water contained within God's command and united with God's Word.

What does Baptism give? What good is it?

It gives us the forgiveness of sins, redeems us from death and the Devil, and gives eternal salvation to all who believe this, just as God's words and promises declare.

Mark 16:16):

"Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; but whoever does not believe will be damned."

7   And he preached, saying, “After me comes he who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8     I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

9     In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10     And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11     And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”

Mk 1:7-11

Baptism is God pleasing

Titus 3:5-8):

"Through this bath of rebirth and renewal of the Holy Spirit, which He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ, our Savior, that we, justified by the same grace are made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a faithful saying."

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19     Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20     teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Mt 28:18-20

We are commanded to baptize

We are also commanded to teach.

How does it work

Who needs it

Removes the separation between the person and the Holy Spirit

Why do we need it

Baptism is efficatatious regardless of the belief of the person being Baptized or the person who is Baptizing as long as water and the word of God are used in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 6:4):

"We are buried with Christ through Baptism into death, so that, in the same way Christ is risen from the dead by the glory of the Father, thus also must we walk in a new life."
