We Need to Renew our Mind

Romans 12:2 ESV
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
The key to unlimiting your Destiny begins in the mind
Proverbs 23:7 KJV 1900
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; But his heart is not with thee.
Too often we suffer from a small mindset, we suffer from a mindset that limits God in us, that limits what God is capable of through us before we get started.
Example: Abram and Sarai
Genesis 12:2–3 ESV
And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Example: Disciples with Loaves and fishes
John 6:7–13 NIV
Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.
See in both these examples, they lived in the idea, in the mindset that it was impossible.
What we need to understand tonight is that we serve a God for whom all things are possible
Matthew 19:26 ESV
But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
So what is possible with God if we unlimit our mind and our mindset?
Ephesians 3:20 ESV
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,
Two things that we need to understand
NOW....not tomorrow, not next week, not next year, not when you get older, not when it is convenient…NOW
God’s power is not the issue, God is ready to do a work in us, and through us in our communities that will shake the foundations of heaven and earth, but our perspective, our mindset limits God
Far more abundantly.....KJV says exceedingly and abundantly more than we can ask or think.
When is the last time that you really sat down and imagined with God. When is the last time that you took your mind and your expectations out of the mix and REALLY allowed the Spirit of God to show you and speak to you about what He wants to do with you and through you. It would amaze you.
If your thoughts of what God is doing in your life do not leave you breathless and in awe......you aren’t dreaming with God enough. He’s a BIG God!!!!
Unlimit your mind.....realize that God is so much bigger than what we can imagine
Hebrews 11:3 ESV
By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.
Tell everybody: Look Around
Everything that you see right now, everything in existence began in the invisible. It began in the mind of God. It began as something in the mind of God that He spoke into existence.
Let me say that another way....before it could be spoken into existence, all things had to exist in the mind of God and He had to believe and release them into existence
As a nation and as a generation, we need to begin to dream about and imagine the destiny that God has for His people. Now hear me out, I am not saying that you are going to bring something into existence that God does not intend…w.e are not God. But I want us to wake up to the fact that we limit ourselves by what we believe and think.
What could God accomplish in your life if you unlimit your mind and truly begin to believe the truth of what God is capable of in you and through you.
So often we hear people telling us what runs in their family......well you know Cancer runs in my family.......you know that heart disease runs in my family......you know divorce it runs in my family....depression, you name it. And we hold onto these lies from the depth of hell that these things have a right to run in our families.
Next time someone tells you that some disease or issue runs in your family....tell them This is where it runs out!
Don’t buy into that mindset. Don’t allow those things to take root in your mind. Remember: as a man thinks so he is!!!
So How do we renew our mind
We renew our mind be getting into the Word of God
Romans 10:17 ESV
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
We renew our mind by hearing the word of God
But watch this....if faith comes by hearing.....what happens if you listen to the wrong voice
We have to be listening to the voice of God, we have to be mindful to listen to His word instead of the lies of the devil
The voice that you listen to influences the future that you choose to experience
Oral Roberts said it this way: “If you can see the invisible, then you can do the impossible”
The things that are limiting us right now are our perspectives and our mindset.

Your Perspective and your Mindset Determine Your Experience

Your perspective and your Mindset determine your experience. watch this…let’s go back to Numbers
This is before the time of Joshua, after the exodus and the spies have gone into the land
Numbers 13:23 ESV
And they came to the Valley of Eshcol and cut down from there a branch with a single cluster of grapes, and they carried it on a pole between two of them; they also brought some pomegranates and figs.
The come back with fruit, and one cluster of grapes is so large, so abundant , so enormous, that it took two grown men to carry it.
Let’s skip forward a few verses
Numbers 13:26–28 ESV
And they came to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation of the people of Israel in the wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh. They brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. And they told him, “We came to the land to which you sent us. It flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. However, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. And besides, we saw the descendants of Anak there.
Numbers 13:33 ESV
And there we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.”
They tell everybody ....listen the fruit is great, but there are giants....we are like grasshoppers beside them
They decided in their mind that they were grasshoppers
Numbers 13:30 ESV
But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, “Let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are well able to overcome it.”
· Caleb was 80 years old and was still asking for the next challenge and the next mountain
· He wanted to immediately go take possession of what God had for them
· He was focused on God’s promise instead of on the problem and it caused that fear to be removed from Him and for His life to be unlimited into what God had for him.
Numbers 14:9 ESV
Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their protection is removed from them, and the Lord is with us; do not fear them.”
Here Caleb and Joshua exhort the people to follow God and not to focus on their fear. They call the giants bread for them.
Their faith in God was so strong that they equated killing these giants with taking a daily meal. It’s like they were saying…I’m getting up....gonna have some cornflakes....kill some giants trying to posses my promise from God.....all in a days work. So matter of fact
The decided they would be giant slayers
Are you a grasshopper or are you a giant slayer tonight?
Remember as a man thinks in his heart so he is!!!
Are you a grasshopper before the tricks and wiles and struggles of the devil, or are you a giqant slayer that will not be held back from possessing what God has promised you and your family.
Your mindset Determines your experience
12 spies go into the promised land
10 focused on the problems…they limited themselves…they became grasshoppers
2 focused on the promise of God....they became giant slayers (they were the only two not to die in the wilderness)
All 12 spies had the same experience….but there were two different perspectives
10 were focused on the problems, they had no courage, they were limited in what God could do with them and through them
Your perspective Determines Your Experience
Now watch this....watch what happens to God’s people as they hear the report
Numbers 14:2 ESV
And all the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The whole congregation said to them, “Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or would that we had died in this wilderness!
God’s people begin to complain and they start looking that it would be better if they had died in Egypt because they heard the report of the ten…they focused on fear
They began to long for the past of bondage because they focused on fear and a bad mindset
It’s God’s job to get you out of Egypt, but understand that it is your job to get Egypt out of you
You have to take action to get rid of the lies of fear doubt and unbelief and focus on the promises of God
God told them later that he would give them every place that their feet tread…there has to be action, and if you don’t believe enough to tread anywhere, guess how much good that promise does you?
Your destiny and your blessings are on the other side of your fear
