Before he begins his public ministry, Jesus spends some time in the desert. All three synoptic gospels all record this. Matthew says he was led by the Spirit, Luke tells us that Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit ,was led into the desert, and Mark says immediately he was driven by the Spirit. It is obvious that if we are to follow Jesus, we are going to have some desert like experiences... and that is okay because the desert is where we learn – more than anyplace else – to rely on Him!
