Sermon Tone Analysis

Psalm 14  /The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”

They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

The Lord looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.

All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

Will evildoers never learn— those who devour my people as men eat bread and who do not call on the Lord?

There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous.

You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the Lord is their refuge.

Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!

When the Lord restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!/

No one is perfect.

There is no one on this earth, past, present, or to come besides Jesus Christ, who is without sin.

Not one person is good.

And in the midst of this stands God’s love.

I call it *love, undefined*.

Yes, we can read and study scripture after scripture about love.

We can draw up our own conclusions and perceptions about what love is and what love isn’t.

We can use personal examples of what we believe could represent God’s love for us, but I believe it is difficult for us to grasp what love is in God’s eyes.

I woke up Friday with a dream in my mind.

Bus, hatred, shooting, family…

 

John 3:16 /“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”/

There are four points I want you to observe in this statement Jesus made that can be applied to many, if not every aspect of life.

*Reason:  God so loved the world*

            In the midst of disobedience

            In the midst of hatred and evil

            We have no right for his mercy

            Cannot enter into his presence, so now what?

 

*Resolution:  that he gave his one and only son*

            The garden and authority was not enough

            The Law did not suffice

            Our will and desire fell considerably short

            Not only did he give, but Jesus willingly came with forethought

            Now what action would this new resolution carry with it?

*Requirement:  whoever should believe in him*

            Something is required of us

            Though our flesh is weak

            We can muster faith and trust in many things, both good and bad, and Jesus is at the pinnacle

            Remember that throughout scripture, there is always a promise to live by with reward…

 

*Result:  will not perish, but have everlasting life*

            Without Jesus we have no hope

            Without Jesus there is no future

            But with Jesus, we have all things that we cannot even imagine

If I am hungry, I get up, walk to the fridge, fix what I want and fill my belly.

If my car is close to empty, I drive to a station, slide my debit card in the slot, pump gas and then drive.

If I need something to stir my brain, I reach for the Word, read it and let it soak into my spirit.

You can look into so many things in this life and see this principle at work: Reason, Resolution, Requirement and Result.

His love goes beyond reason.

God’s love transcends what we can even define.

Though we can study God’s love, it rests undefined by our understanding.

Jesus’ life as God’s resolution is something that we can’t comprehend.

We cannot fulfill the requirement set except for God’s love towards us that gives us faith to believe.

But if we take that chance, if we unveil this great mystery to those who are lost, if only we walk in the light of his will, what a result!!!  Michael Phelps has gone through great strides and countless exercises to be where he is today, but only for a reward that is temporal.

But we have a reward that is eternal.

Just as you see those on the gold medal stand with tears in eye, God will one day wipe away every tear from ours as we stand in glory with full revelation of what just happened over our lifetime.

Every tear of disbelief, every tear of joy, every tear of disappointment will be gone in an instant when God settles us into our eternal destiny.

What a love!!! What a friend we have in Jesus.

What a lifetime of genuine completeness we could have, if only we put our faith and trust in him!!!
