What Happened at the Funeral?

1 Corinthians 15:3–5 ESV

3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.

The Specifics of the Burial

The burial indicates that he really died.

Joe of Arimathea (John says Nick brought 100 lbs. spices), Body wrapped in linen.

New tomb hewn in stone. Women note the location.

A guard requested and tomb sealed.

The Spiritual World

Acts 2:31 - body not left to corruption or soul left in Hades.

1 Peter 3:19 - preached to the disobedient spirits (angels)

Eph 4:8-9 - Led forth a multitude of captives (way to heaven opened).
