Luke 24:46-47
Luke 24:46-47
Good evening everyone watching by video this evening,,, it's time for our weekly devotion.
I'm praying that all of you are having a wonderful week so far.
As I've said the last several weeks,,, we need to continue to remember those that are dealing with this virus.
Those that are sick,,, since there are many others dealing with this sickness as it continues to grow and,,, those that have lost loved ones,,, we need to continue to remember them as well.
Remember the medical teams that are dealing with this and any others that must work and take a chance of contacting this virus.
Also,,, continue to remember those on our prayer list,,, and our country and it’s leaders.
---------------
Our devotion this evening comes from David Jeremiah Morning and Evening Devotion.
Our scripture will be Luke 24:45-47 and I'll be reading from the King James Version Bible.
Luke 24:46–47 (KJV 1900) —
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
God bless the reading and the hearing of your word this evening.
Let us pray:
Dear Lord,,, as we begin this evening,,, with all that are listening and watching by video,,, we ask that you open our ears to hear and our hearts and minds to receive the message that you have for us today,,, In Jesus' name I pray,,, Amen.
---------------
These verses are part of the teaching that Jesus used to teach the disciples concerning the scriptures' that showed why He was crucified.
He showed all of the disciples the scriptures that He showed to the two disciples on the Emmaus Road the day of His resurrection when they were apparently giving up and returning home that day.
I am always amazed at the way that Jesus looks out for us that are left here on earth.
We serve a God that is always looking out for our welfare and well being,,, instead of the other way around,,, like worldly leaders would expect us to do,,, as their servants.
---------------
David Jeremiah titled this devotion,,, "COME OUT OF THE GRAVE".
He said that there have been many men that have thought very highly of themselves,,, and the ideals that they tried to teach,,, or at least they tried to convince others of that thought.
Some of them have even been willing to die for their cause.
But,,, like all men,,, they were defeated by death.
If we dug up their graves today,,, we’d find their dead bodies.
But that’s what makes Jesus unique.
He predicted His death,,, predicted His burial,,, and prophesied that one day He would come out of the grave victorious over death.
Three days after His death,,, He did just that.
The Scriptures recorded it.
As so many have said,,, and I've said as well,,, the stone wasn't rolled away so that Jesus could get out,,, the stone was rolled away,,, so that we could see that Jesus wasn't there.
All who have tried to prove that this never happened,,, have been defeated.
Scientists,,, determined to destroy the Christian faith,,, have been unable to prove this never happened,,, even though they continue to try,,, and many skeptics and atheists have been brought to faith after they have spent time studying the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
It is one of the most thoroughly documented events in the world’s history,,, and if it was anything besides this glorious event,,, it would be confirmed by any historian without question.
Through His death we are redeemed,,, and through His blood our sin atoned,,, but all of that is meaningless if He did not come out of the grave.
Christ’s resurrection validated what He did on the cross.
