““For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” (John 3:16–17, ESV)
This is still our Father’s world, which He exceedingly loves, and in which He invested the very life of His only Son.
Every person, no matter how degraded and lost, has been redeemed by the precious blood of Christ.
““You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.” (Matthew 5:13, ESV)
Besides its role in trade or salary, people also associated salt with friendship, honor, and loyalty.
As salt makes people thirsty for water, so should we cause people to be thirsty for the Water of Life.
He who drinks of the living water becomes a fountain of life. The receiver becomes a giver.
The flavor that the salt brings out in the food symbolizes the vitality, the zest, the hope, and the joy of Christ that flavored Christians infuse in a lifeless, hopeless society.
Of all people, Christ’s followers should be the most affirming, zestful, and joyous in this world - we have reason to be.
Our primary mission is not to just determine what people are like, but to interact with them in such a way that we bring out the best in them.
Our mission as salt is to present Christ’s gospel in such an inviting and enticing manner that people find themselves compelled by it.
The church ought to be a refuge where hurt persons find healing and restoration in Christ and His people.
According to Christ’s way we should be drawn to the wounded because this is when they need us the most.
People often leave the church not because of doctrinal differences but because of the way they are treated.
We are the salt of people around us, and we take the initiative in reaching out to them.
We need to build people’s trust by building bridges to tactfully and winsomely connect them with us.
Our focus is to be on how to draw them near not drive them away.
We have no savor except was we unite our lives with Christ.
