Thomas was both bold and inquisitive.
John 11:16 ESV
16 So Thomas, called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.”
John 14:5 ESV
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?”

The Problem of the Skeptic (24-25)

The modern skeptic operates on “Seeing is believing.” However, they can never fully live life that way. Trust has to be held at some level.
A refusal to believe - more than just doubts, but an unwillingness to accept the testimony of God.
The Bible Exposition Commentary Chapter Twenty-Three: The Power of His Resurrection (John 20:19–31)

Doubt is often an intellectual problem: we want to believe, but the faith is overwhelmed by problems and questions. Unbelief is a moral problem; we simply will not believe.

For us, Thomas’ skepticism actually provides a further demonstration of the resurrection miracle. For Christ is able to overcome the darkest doubts of the cynic by the powerful light of His resurrected presence.

The Proof of the Scars (26-28)

His Identity
Passing through walls into a locked room shows His divinity.
The physical scars show that the same body that was buried is the body that is Raised!
They were the proof to Thomas of the miracle that took place!
His Atonement
The scars are testament to His suffering and sacrifice.
Isaiah 53:5–6 ESV
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
His scars are witness that His sacrifice has been accepted by the Father.
His Abiding Work -
Jesus’ scars are a constant reminder in heaven of the acceptable sacrifice that He provided.
The throne room of God - the scroll and the Lamb. Revelation 5:6-12
He is presently making intercession for you and me.
Hebrews 7:25 NKJV
25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

The Promise of Salvation (29-31)
