Mark 1:1 NKJV
1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
The word gospel means the good news
The bad news is that in our natural state we are separated from God, and deserve eternal punishment
But the good news is that Jesus died for our sins, we can accept Him into our life, be forgiven, have eternal life and now have a relationship with God.
This is the greatest of news.
We can watch the daily news and it is nothing but continuous bad news.
But we have the good news of Jesus Christ, the son of God.
Now,why is Mark calling this the beginning of the good news?
“The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
Mainly because of two reasons.
1. The Jewish people were under the Law of the Old covenant and nobody prior to Jesus could keep all of the law perfectly.
2. This was exclusively for the descendant of Israel, and the Gentiles were excluded.
