Introduction:
1. Now that the pandemic is winding down where do we go from here?
A. Do we want the church to look like it was before the pandemic?
1. If we want the church to remain the same continue doing the same things.
B. Or are there things we would like to see change?
1. If we desire change then we must do something different.
C. Do we want ourselves to look the same as before the pandemic?
1. If we want ourselves to remain the same continue doing the same things.
D. Or would we desire to see change in our spiritual life?
1. If we desire change then we must do something different.
2. The question of where to go from here is dependent upon us.
A. Individually.
1. We control how much excitement is shown for church events.
A. The more excitement we show the more justification we have for the event.
B. Collectively
1. We control how many events we have.
3. With this in mind we need to remember that there are more people that need help now than before the pandemic.
A. People who have lost loved ones from the pandemic.
B. Elderly people who have been in quarantine and lonely because of the pandemic.
C. People who have been scarred of the virus and don’t know what to do.
D. People who have lost their jobs because of the lock downs.
E. People who have lost their business because of the lock downs.
F. People who have not been in worship for a long time.
4. So, what now?
A. Does this affect where we go now?
Body:
1. Lets work like we have never worked before because people need help.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
A. There are people that need to be comforted because of loss.
15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.
B. There are elderly that need to be visited.
9 Do not cast me off in the time of old age; Do not forsake me when my strength fails.
C. There are people who are terrified because of the virus and don’t know what to do.
1. We need to help people realize they have not been given a spirit of fear.
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
2. We need to help people understand the peace that God offers.
27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
A. We need to help people understand that the peace that God offers is beyond understanding.
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
D. There are people who are hurting because they have lost their jobs and businesses because of lock downs.
1. We need to help people understand that God takes care of His people.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
2. We need to help people understand that money is temporary.
7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.
3. We have to help people understand that money can’t buy heaven.
36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? 37 Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
4. We have to help people understand that the church will be there when they need them.
9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.
E. People are hurting because they have not been in worship for a long time.
1. We need to help people understand that they need God.
26 And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, 27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; 28 for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’
2. We need to help people understand that they need worship in their lives because God seek those to worship Him.
23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
3. We need to help people understand that worship is beneficial to our spiritual lives.
19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Conclusion:
1. What Now!
A. The answer is we work like we have never worked before because there are people who are hurting that need God.
