1. He who loves his life will lose it.
John 12:25 NKJV
25 He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
2. It is possible to love the praise of men more than the praise of God.
John 12:42–43 NKJV
42 Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
3. We are to love one another as Christ loved us.
