Until we learn to see sin as God does, it’s difficult to understand what happened at the cross. Gods is Holy and Just and His response to sin is WRATH/PUNISHMENT! Yet He loves sinners and wants to reconcile with them. The cross was the perfect place - forgive sin without compromising His Holiness; wrath had to be poured out on a suitable substitute.

Forgiveness of Sin through Christ
Forgiveness of Sin through Christ
Christ took our punishment (Rom. 3:21-31) Jesus suffered His Father’s wrath for us as He hung on the cross. Sin was punished. Justice was satisfied. God could now forgive sinners. God’s wrath was poured out on His Son so love and forgiveness could be lavished upon us. We’ll never fully understand the depths of the cross (Christ bore sooo much more). Costly redemption proves the Father’s great love for us.
