Self-Control

BI: When we give control to the Spirit of God we are better equipped to live out the glory of God.

Concept: This will be a narrative sermon on the life of Solomon. It will be inductive with the first 2/3 of the message just painting the picture of Solomon, his opportunities, and the decisions he made.

The goal will be to get people to think, “If I were Solomon, I would have done it differently.”

Then comes the turn, and the remaining 1/3. The turn may consist of a simple question with a good pause. “Where have you failed to exercises self-control with the life you have been given and as a result, regret it?”

The remaining 1/3 will highlight the verses about self-control els-where in the chapter. The goal in this remaining 1/3 of time will be to help people see how they lean into the spirit to begin to make controlled decisions in their family, finances, health, relationships, and more, that will help them better experience the joy of God while living in a manner that gives glory to God.
