We Need A Saviour

How do you come to the saving knowledge of JC?
I grew up in Church and always knew about Jesus and what He did for me but I didn’t feel like I needed a saviour until about grade 10. When my faith became more than just head knowledge but it enter my heart.
When I drifted away and had to make the choice to give him my life or give the world my life. Then I got baptised and died to the world and choose to follow in His way.
Are there any area’s in your life right now that you know you know you need to repent from? The Answer is of course! There are area’s in all our lives that we haven’t fully submitted to God.
Romans 3:23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
But how do we get saved?
Step one: recognize your need for saviour.
What does it look like to recognize your need for a saviour? Does it only happen once? Or does it happen more than once?
That means we recognize our moralility can’t save us, our goodness can’t save us, our acts of kindness to the poor or who ever can’t save us. Just being a good person is not a enough.
John 14:6 ESV
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Acts 4:12 ESV
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
What are some more scriptures that point to Jesus being the only way for us to be saved? Read a couple of them.
We just celebrated Easter a few weeks ago and Easter is all about reminding us of our salvation. That Jesus came from heaven, fully God, fully man, and walked on the Earth.
That Jesus faced every hardship that we face, but was without sin. Then He died on the cross for our sins. Bearing the weight of all our past, present and future mistakes. 3 days later He rose again.
It doesn’t matter how hard you work or how nice you are. Works are not enough to save you. Coming to church every single week is not enough to save you. Following the 10 commandments perfectly is not going to save you.
Faith in Jesus and His grace are the only thing strong enough to save us...
Dont be a pharasee or just religious person.
Matthew 23:1–3 TPT
Then Jesus addressed both the crowds and his disciples and said, “The religious scholars and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ throne as the authorized interpreters of the Law. So listen and follow what they teach, but don’t do what they do, for they tell you one thing and do another.
Religion looks like knowing what we ought to do and not doing. Knowing that we are to love one another and not doing it, thinking “eh as long as I go to church i’m good”, that religion can’t save you.
Step two: Put your faith in Jesus
But what does it mean to have faith in God?
FAITH (πίστις, pistis) GREEK. Reliance upon and trust in God; a central emphasis of Christianity.
We need to put our faith in Jesus. Not in politics, our friends, family, even our church. Our hope and faith needs to be in Jesus alone. Following his way.
Romans 5:1–5 ESV
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
We are to rejoice in our suffering… wow. Now this doesn’t mean we don’t feel pain, or saddness. The Bible says that those who mourn will be comforted and Jesus himself wept. This means that even in our darkest day we can still hold onto hope in Jesus’ work on the Cross.
So in order to be saved we need to do what the follwing scripture say:
Acts 16:30–31 ESV
Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
Ephesians 2:4–9 ESV
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Titus 3:4–7 ESV
But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
1 Timothy 2:5–6 ESV
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.
Between Acts 16:30, Ephesisans 2:4-9 , Titus 3:4-7 , 1 Timothy 2:5-6 Which one stands out to you the most? Why?
So now that we understand this new found hope of eternity that we have access to is simply put belief in Jesus. But what do wit do with this information? Well now it is our job to tell others about it.

Evangelize It

Romans 1:16 ESV
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
Your friends struggling with mental health needs Jesus.
The person in the LGBTQ+ community needs Jesus.
Your family needs Jesus.
The world needs to know about Jesus.
Jesus died for every single person, He loves every single person and they need to know it.
Unfortunately most people I have met often have the wrong impression of Jesus. They get this impression because of Christians who act more like pharasees then like Christ.
We are not called to be the moral police. We are not called to tell people how bad they are.
We are called to go out into all the world and proclaim good news! To tell people that they are loved!
John 3:16–18 ESV
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
This is the Good News we need to tell people!!
Honestly it’s simple. You don’t have to be a pastor to do this!
What makes you afraid to share the gospel?
When was a time you were able to share the gospel with someone? How did they respond?
What are examples of a good way to share the gospel vs a not so good way…?
I feel convicted by this myself sharing this message. Last week I had a great opening to share the love of Christ with a cafe waitress. But instead I invited them to a building rather than inviting them into a relationship with the living father.
If I see her again I am going to apologize for my mistake and actually tell her the good news. That she is loved by Jesus and can experience His love and forgiveness if she just believes.
Inviting people to Church is great. But Church doesn’t give eternal life. Jesus does.

Praise You In This Storm

I know that COVID has been a very rough time for most of you. I know that it has felt disconnected and lonely at times.
I know that some of you have maybe spent this time of Covid getting closer to Jesus, but I also know that a lot of people haven’t. That they have drifted away.
Today I want to give you the opportunity to follow Jesus. Whether this is for the first time, or maybe over COVID you feel like you have neglected your faith to the point where you want to recommit your life to Jesus and to following Him.
I think two things are important:
1) That you pray outloud like Romans says:
Romans 10:9 ESV
because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
2) That you take a baby step forward today. A declaration that you today want to make a change in your life. For either the first time or to recommitment.
So I am going to pray and I want you to repeat after me:
Dear God,
I recognize that I am a sinner in need of a saviour.
I recognize that there is no way to heaven other than through the price you paid for me on the cross.
Jesus I am sorry for choosing sin instead of you. I repent. I turn away from that lifestyle.
Jesus today for either the first time or as a recommitment to you I surrender my life compelely and recognize you as Lord of my life.
I wont go my own way or the worlds way anymore. I choose to follow you in your way. Which leads to life everlasting.
Thank you for your amazing Grace which saves me Lord.
AMEN
WELCOME!! To the best family in the world.
When you face troubles how do you deal with it?
What are some troubles you are facing right now? How can we help support you in those?
Take prayer requests and pray for one another.
