Recap/Intro

Over the last three weeks, we’ve looked in depth at what Paul had to say to the church at Corinth regarding the resurrection. For the first week, we were reminded that Jesus did actually physically rise from the dead. The resurrection of Christ isn’t just something that the early church imagined or made up because it sounded good. It’s a real historical fact. In the second part of the series, we learned that because Jesus rose from the dead, we will also rise from the dead. He rose as the firstfruits and we will follow. And last week, we talked about what the resurrection body will look like and how it will be superior in every way to the body we have now because of the plan and creativity of God. So this morning, to close out this series, it’s only fair that since we’ve talked about how God is going to give us new bodies, that we spend a few minutes talking about what we’ll be doing with those new bodies for eternity.
And let me give a short disclaimer before we start. I never had this happen until last week. Last week, two different individuals came up to me after church and said they wanted to shout out “Amen!” during the message but basically weren’t sure what would happen if they did. Here’s what will happen if you shout out “Amen!”: your preacher will get even more excited, and then other people might get even more excited and start shouting out “Amen!” I want you to know that I always welcome your feedback in a sermon, because it’s not me you’re praising - it’s God - and we can never praise him enough. If you want to shout out “Amen!”, shout it out! Because you know what, you shouting it out might give someone else the courage to shout it out. No one’s going to look at you weird - and even on the off-chance they did, that’s ok. It’s good that people think we’re weird sometimes, especially where the things of God are concerned.
