Jesus, The Satisfier // John 4: 1-42 // Sunday, April 25, 2021
You may be seated.
All right. Today, I'm very excited to share with you Jesus the satisfyer an hour. Text is in John chapter 4, verse 1, to 42 C. So let me just give you a warning. This is my all-time favorite Bible story, still really. There's a lot of things that I want to share. So time will not permit, so I'm going to make sure that it's not 2 hours, you know, just maybe just an hour-and-a-half. Okay, so we're good. So Amber, just got scared. You I will do my best to really just comes by for the story to you, but this is my all-time favorite of all Bible stories. The story about the woman at the well and as we have been going for our series on the Book of John and and walking our way, flu. So we've seen Jesus as God, Jesus as the logo Jesus, the purifier Jesus as the Savior. Jesus as the robber by the teacher running out of words to call Jesus. But today I want to look at Jesus as the satisfyer Jesus eyes the satisfyer in our lives this morning as we study your text, but you teach us to be more and more like you in Jesus name we pray. Amen.
Something about Jesus, is that Jesus meets us exactly where we are. Jesus meets us at the point of our need Co, whatever you need. That's why Jesus gives you see it. Last week. We looked at Mica, did not last week the week before. Look at Nicodemus, Nicodemus was a religious guy, and as a religious guy, you just met him like him, his religion in Jesus told him that it's not enough to just be religious, but you also need to be spiritual and that's why Jesus went on a Jesus told, Nicodemus, you must be born again. And today, we going to look at a different aspect individual conversation when he had with Nicodemus, as opposed to be individual conversation. That Jesus will have today with the woman at the well. So Jesus the satisfyer. Do you just four different facets of the story? Not in any particular order, but as we will go throughout the story, you will see those four, things all flow out, as we go, the first facet of this story that you will cease that the gospel is for everyone. The gospel is for everyone, the gospel is life-changing, the gospel takes away, our shame, and the gospel, satisfies, our soul here today. So let's walk out the tax. When Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John. Although Jesus himself did not baptize with only his disciples. He left Judea and the part of it again for Galilei and he had to go through Samaria. This is really interesting story. You see, remember John such a humble man. He just understood his place. As we saw last week, it was all about him making way for Jesus. The more that Jesus was gaining in popularity, nobody knows about John. John was Growing didn't but you did not care. John says, that he must increase. I must decrease important and I need to become less important. And as Jesus disciples were baptizing, their people were going to him. And Jesus and went to Galilee says he had to go through Samaria. The story between the Jewish people and the people, the Samaritan people is that they did not get along. They did not like each other at all. So what happened after King Solomon was no longer king of Israel. Israel was divided into two kingdoms. You had the number and you had Judah. So once you had those two kingdoms, I'll pretty much the number in Kingdom was conquered. And when the northern kingdom was conquered the Assyrians to all the people that they would call people of substance. They move them to Babylon, believed the people that were left with a poor part of the people who didn't add have an education to those people stayed behind and then whether the Assyrians did is that while they move, all the Jews of substance to Babylon. But they also two people from other places, they've conquered and move them to Samaria to the northern kingdom. And as they were there, those people intermarry. And one of the thing for Jewish people is that to intermarry in those days. So the Samaritans people, we're just half-breed, they were just mixed race. And again, and then only they were mixed race which was looked down upon by the Jewish people. But also remember, they took all the people of substance the people with the education, the people with the money, that's people you say that that had the money. So really what was left was just the poor. Should I don't leave, they were mixed. They were a mixed race that the people look down upon but also they were the pool people. So they do Jewish people. Despise them did not want to do anything with them. And actually for Jewish person when they were going like if they were going to go, they would do like a bypass not to go through Samaria while it two days journey might take. Like if you're going to be out later to pass supposed to marry at but they would skip that. Just not to go there at all. They did not want you intermingled with them at all and not only had all those problems and you had like a religious issue as well, because the Samaritans also could not stand the Jewish people that did not like them either. So what day did they say? I forget you. You don't think that I'm Jewish enough for you. So, we going to do our own Temple. So they went to another Mound, and they erected their own Temple. So they worship their own way. Walter Jewish people, you know, Worship in Jerusalem. So, so, so really, you had this racial divide, you had this religious divide that was going on between them. But I love that invoice for nieces and Jesus had to pass loose Mariah. So Jesus doesn't care about racial differences. Jesus doesn't care about religious differences. Jesus only cares about the soul. Jesus only cares about the people. Jesus doesn't care that he was Jewish and the Jewish people hated the Samaritans people. But Jesus said a does a woman that is going to go to oh well enjoy, whether I need to meet her really want to say is that he had to go through Samaria. Just saying like he had an appointment.
But had to go through Samaria. Jewish people don't go through Samaria by Jesus, chose to go flus to Marriott. Jesus went there. Maria to meet the woman at the well and it says so he came to a town of Samaria called sidecar near the field that Jacob had given to his son. Joseph Jacob's Well through, Jesus, reread as he was from his journey was sitting beside. The well, it was about the 6-hour Jacobs, we'll see when Jacob was passing away. Jacob, gave that well to Houston Joseph. It's funny thing about this. Well, this is where Isaac Abraham's servant met Isaac's, wife, Rachel. And this is the same well, where Jacob also Abraham servant meth Rebecca Isaacs wife and that's the same. Well, we're Jacob also. Met Rachel, Hughes wife. And that's where Moses met his first wife zipporah also. So it's so if you're single, you're going to find that. Well, it's so we can go ahead and have your match, okay? Jacob's. Well in a very popular place, and I just love Jesus. The way that Jesus does when Jesus come and meet us in common ground. Because both of Jewish people in both the Samaritans, They all had Jacob in common. Jacob is the name that was changed to Israel. So, really Jacob is still the father of both the Jewish nation and also the Samaritans, the ones that were having Jesus, they meet Jesus met her there at that. Well, and I love the second part of that verse inverse X. It says, so Jesus, we read as he was from his journey that we will know. The book was written, so that we will know that Jesus is the Christ that Jesus is God, and at the same time, Jesus is also menso 100% guide hundred percent man. That's why she called the hypostatic union. I don't know how it works but that's the way that it is. God says Jesus is 100%, man, is 100% God and you will see this in this text. So here they tell us, Jesus was tired. So, the reason why Jesus was tired, because Jesus was fully human after taking the Journey 2 to 3 days journey. Jesus was tired and needed some water in Jesus met the woman at the well, as he was wearied was sitting beside the, well, what about the 6-hour? The Sig Sauer that's about noon during the day. So, this woman is coming a day or two drawer water soon for 7. It says, as the woman from Samaria, came to draw water. Jesus said to her, give me a drink. This is getting fine here. For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food it. Look at her response, she said the Samaritan woman said to him. How is it that you a Jew, ask for me, a drink or Samaritan woman? So Jews have no dealings with Samaritan. Remember, back in the sixties in the forties where the whole plumbing system in the United States was built upon to water fountain. You're the one with the color and one would say that. Why that's equivalent of one person. I just love the way John Piper. Put the equivalent of one thing and can I drink from your water fountain? No, we know you can't do that. Please don't mix. You, if you from certain background, you drink from the colored water fountain. And if you are from another background, you drink from the white only fountain. So that's what's going on here in this story. Jesus, is saying, give me a drink. So, really what Jesus is saying to this woman? Let me share your cup. Let me share your water fountain. Jesus didn't care about the barriers that was put in society about differences, separating people. But she's has only cared about doing life with everybody. Even people that we don't want to do life with that. Society says, we should not do life, we're going to love it with his disciples had gun away into the city to buy food when it says Jesus had to go through Samaria and Jesus was by himself.
A plane because Jesus, no, probably the disciples were not ready for it, but they still had their racial issues that they still had to deal with. And knowing that they are Jew. Wishing this Samaritan woman and see Jesus meeting that woman. There might be a problem. So Jesus said them to run some errands. That's how wonderful that Jesus is. Jesus is not going to let anybody anything get on his way of meeting his father's business. Going about meeting needs meeting people And that's why Jesus sent them to buy food. And again, just look at the disciples going to buy food in town. That's a barrier. That's already being broken because now Jewish people is buying from Samaritan, remember Jews. And Samaritans have no, dealing with the Jesus makes you that he was alone with that woman. Kills the other barrier. Jesus Break the burial suit with a woman because as a rabbi but Jesus is a rabbi you are not supposed to be speaking with a woman by yourself. So really Jesus breaking all cultural barrier, all racial barrier, all gender barrier. Just to meet this woman. That's why I love the story so much. And as we continue, we see that the gospel is for everyone, he's for anyone. And as we will see, as we look at this woman, she had some moral issues. But still Jesus, find it important to meet her and to share the gospel with her because the gospel is for everyone. Now, look at verse 10. Verse that says, Jesus answered her. If you knew the gift of God and who it is, that is saying to you give me a drink. You would have asked him, then he would have given you living water. Jesus is saying, you don't want to give me a drink. Do you know who's talking to you? If you do if you knew me you would hurry up and give me a drink. But the woman didn't get it yet. But Jesus is about to reveal himself to her. Jesus says, if you knew the gift of God, And who is that is saying to you give me a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water. The woman said to him, sir you have nothing to draw water with and the well is deep, where did you get that living water? Are you greater than our father? Jacob, he gave us the well and drink from it himself and his wife's talk, this woman, Jesus is trying to teach your spiritual thing. Just like Jesus was trying to teach Nicodemus spiritual things with Nicodemus was stuck on the physical same for her. She can still stuck on the physical and that's in the spiritual thing that Jesus is trying to tell her and is restarting. Jesus said to her Everyone, who drinks of, this water will be thirsty, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty. Again, the water that I will give, you will become in him, a spring of water, welling up to eternal life. The woman said to him, sir, give me this water so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water. The beautiful thing about the gospel, it takes away our shame. This woman going to get water at noon. When the Sun is hot, that's not what people then. They would go early in the morning or late in the afternoon when the sun is down. But you have to walk far for water. But this woman came out soon because of her shame because of what was going on in her life. She makes you that she go to a water when nobody was there. And when Jesus told her, I'll give you leaving, whether she truly understood. Why Jesus was saying? That's why she said, give me that water. I will not be thirsty again and never have to come here cuz she did not enjoy coming to get water because of her, but the gospel takes away our shame and that's why she wanted to do with that woman. That's why Jesus had to go through Samaria, so that Jesus could take away her shame. She said, sir, give me this water. So Then I will not be thirsty again. With a Jesus is a satisfyer of our soul, Jesus said to her and verse XVI, call your husband, what does that have to do with anything? Just like making Bemis asking a question?
Jesus saying to her go, call your husband, Jesus saying, go call your husband.
And come here. The woman answer again, I have no husband. Jesus said to her, you are right in saying I have no husband for you. Have had five husbands. How does Jesus know? You have had five husbands and the one that you now have is not your husband. What you have said is true.
Is it not only Jesus was really was tired shows that his Humanity but now we see. Jesus only potent, only shins where he knows everything. So that's why Jesus must be both hundred percent human. And he might also be 100% guide. Jesus just met this woman, but Jesus knew everything about her. You see? That's the thing. The gospel is for everyone, but the gospel is only. The gospel is only You can have it back. If you have confronted, you send Jesus. What Jesus is doing there now is convicting. Her of her since you think Jesus is a God that meets you at the place of your need. And her problem is that it was not just only just coming to get water because he's all of us. We always have something that we want in our life to fulfil our life. We have a need in our life. We have a vacuum that all of us try to feel some of us feel that we've our work. Some of us, fill it with pleasure. Some of us, fill it up with possession and money. The things that we have some of us fill it up with a hobby. With her problem was relationship the way that she was fulfilling that her greatest need in her life was relationship. She always had to have
And Jesus said, you have had five husbands and the one that you have, now you're just living and with him. Jesus is pretty much think that you are not living together. You are not married. And the woman confronted with her send, it says you are and I love the way that Jesus descended. Also, what you have said is true, the master Communicator wild setting, something very hard to the woman, really confronting her, really convicting her of ever seen. He says, what you have said is true. The woman said to her syrup receive that you are a prophet. So now, the woman is starting to pick things up. This is not just like a physical thing that would just about water. The woman start to pick him. You must be a prophet. Jesus says, our fathers worship on this mountain, our fathers worship with this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem, is the place where people are to worship. Jesus said, to her woman, believe me the hour is coming. When neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, will you worship the father, you worship? What you do? Not know we worship. What we know for salvation is from the Jews. So, what is she doing now? She's deflecting. Jesus says, go call your husband. Bring him here and then I will give you leaving. Whatever she said, you said that, we need to worship here, we worship here. Jesus. Look at Jesus response. Jesus didn't take the bait. Lisa said, you worship? What you do? Not know we worship. What we do for salvation is from the Jews, but the hour is coming. And is now here when the true worshippers will worship the father in spirit? And in truth, for the father, is seeking such people to worship Him. Jesus says, Hey, I Just Came to break this barrier. No longer that Jewish people will say, at Worship in Jerusalem, or you will say that, I will worship in my order is in Jesus says, Hey the hours coming once I go to the cross. All this is abolish worship is no longer based on the temple, you got to be in this Temple of that Temple, but Jesus is saying, true worship will be in spirit and in truth. Jesus is saying, worship will not be a matter of location, but worship will be a matter of the heart. Jesus, the Same that. Just like you just do some mindless thing as we do today. Said some people might be like, resigning different prayers, was it just in the mind but there's no heart in it. I'm just reciting this prayer over and over. That's not a warship. Neither does it have to do with the location? I have to be in this place to worship. Jesus says, no, not now you can worship Jesus in your car, you can worship at the church, you can worship in your bedroom, you can wear even when you're taking a shower. Jesus is saying, true worship, is every work you Worship in spirit and in truth, Because it is a matter of the heart. Because Jesus came to change our hard, but the hour is coming is now here when she worshippers will worship the father in spirit. And in truth, for the father is seeking such people to worship.
Woman with a mole. Racial tensions between the two of them is a woman with that society that women were looking down upon, but Jesus didn't care about her race. Visit didn't care about her gender, Jesus didn't care about her moral issues, her social issues because she was a social outcast when she got to go get water by herself. But Jesus says there's other people, I'm looking to worship me. Chitlins didn't say anything about a you change right now, then you can worship me. But Jesus is the people. I'm looking to worship me. God is spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth, that's the power of the Gospel. That's why the gospel is life-changing. You see now? Because you believe you are going to walk with God, you are going to beat you and you are going to worship Jesus in spirit and in truth because of your faith. But Jesus is not asking you to go clean up your life, then you can come and worship me. Jesus said, come to me, believe in me. Receive me drink from my cup then Automatically you will start changing your life will change. Then you will worship Him in spirit and in truth, you will clean up your life because Jesus Will Be With You. Jesus is saying you can't do this thing for our you're by yourself answer. The word worship worship. The Old English word for the worst ship is because Jesus is the object of worship because he's worth it. That's why. When we singing Somewhere because it's worth it, our worship has to do also with our work. When we in our work, we do a great work because remember Colossians 3:23 17, everything that we do, we do it unto the Lord. So everything we do, we do it with Excellence because he is Worth it. So when I'm working, I am worshipping when I am studying and in being a student, I want to be a good student. I want to get the egg because they were shipping because I have excellences me because God called me to be excellent when I'm washing them singing. It's only singing with my mind. I don't only have to be just in a certain place to sing that song, but I'm going to worship God for my heart and I'm going to praise him because he is worth it. And then the woman said to him in verse 25, I know that Messiah is coming. He is called the Christ when he comes, he will tell us all things believes in bisaya to, you see the common ground. You see the the stupidity when we are just being divided based on race, but we are all from the same cloth. We all came from Adam and Eve, we all came from Noah. You see, when we trying to pull into Visions barriers that are not there. It's just really plain stupidity. God calls us to be one people. That's why 2nd Corinthians 5 said, he has called us to the ministry of reconciliation that Jesus has broken down the wall of separation. There is neither Jew, nor Greek, no, female or male. We Are All One in Christ. End up the message of the gospel and that's why we have so many water down gospel that they have no power. Because it is racialized. But Jesus says, I come to break down all those barriers were Jews and Greeks, and Gentiles, white and black Hispanics, and Asians will worship together and it will worship in spirit and they will worship in shoe. And Jesus said to her, I will speak to you and he will get seven. I am statements of Jesus in The Book of John, the first one, he revealed it to this woman, this boil Outcast, this social outcast. The woman that was looked down upon the woman that nobody wanted to be around. Neither did she want to be around anybody? But Jesus. Since I am. He, Jesus is saying, I am the Sia. You see the couple everyone, it's not only for the religious gospel for the religious, this is the gospel for the irreligious. People who don't want anything to do with three people who want to just hide for Jesus says, I love him as much as I love Nicodemus, the religious guy, the rich guy, but I had a little moral failures in her life. Jesus says, I love her too easy. Jesus wasn't hiding to tell other people that he was Messiah, but to this woman Jesus said plainly to her, I am the one that you looking for. Look no further, look, no more. I am right here in Jesus says, instead of you coming to me. Jesus says, I am talking to you. I came to meet you because I had to go through Samaria to come and meet you. Jesus is the one who meets us at our point of needs. Jesus doesn't care about any barrier, but Jesus will do whatever it takes to come and meet us where we are. That's why the gospel is for everyone. The gospel is life-changing. The gospel is powerful. And we finish the story here and verse 27, it says just then his disciples came back to see. Jesus makes you that he met that woman. He convicted her of Hircine confronted her. Why she needed him? Then the disciples came and when the disciples came, they Marvel that he was talking with a woman but no one said, what do you speak or why are you talking with her? To remember it was not appropriate for Jesus to talk to a woman in those days because he was a rabbi Especially with that woman with some more issues to the woman left her water jar and went away into town and said to the people come see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ? Jesus said to her, I am Messiah. She she is so Marvel. She said, is this true Did I just miss Messiah? Did I just come face-to-face with him and I remember why did she come to the? Well, Who draw a waterbed when did she do? Sheila Harris, Hawaii weather draw. A lot of us, try to feel our greatest needs with all different things. In all the things that really do not satisfy where the pleasure power possession. But what really satisfy what we really need is Jesus a little time trying to find my find yourself. Apart from God, is in this woman while she was going after water. But because she found the Living Water, she no longer needed the water that she went for now. She left for water jar behind, and ran to town until people come and see a man who told me everything that I ever did. If somebody can tell you everything that you ever did, that's Jesus Jesus, you do in the lies, be at the bema seat, judgment, it would be like something. Then in replay where Jesus was play a tape, Jesus will save. You want me to play you a tape and see all that you've done? Or how many of you will live Jesus play that take. No way, I'll take Jesus. Whatever you decide just do it but don't show me that. Cuz I don't want to see it, because Jesus knows everything. Like a lot of us. Sometimes we think we can hide from Jesus.
What's Done in the Dark will be revealed all the time this world we catching a lot of police officers when doing bad things. That's the same thing like somebody was or I didn't do that.
you know, I know everything, everything is being recorded, and now we can truly understand because everything is being reported, we're being recorded wherever we go, And now, we can truly understand that Jesus is a record of everything that we've ever done. That's the power of the Gospel. Jesus doesn't care. Jesus knew that the tape recording of that woman, he knew every single thing about that woman, but Jesus still loves her. And Jesus still thought that she was important enough to go meet with her one and one and meet her needs. That is the gospel. That's why we cannot write up anyone. Never? Ever, ever, ever. Right of anyone because Jesus doesn't write off anyone come? See a man who told me everything that I ever did. Can this be the Christ then went out of the town? And we're coming to him. Meanwhile, the disciples were urging him saying Rabbi eat, but he said to them, I have food to eat that. You do not know about. So the disciple said to one another has, anyone brought him something to eat? Jesus said to them. My food is to do. The will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work. Jesus said, it's more important for me to be with this woman and to tell her about me about Messiah, what you really mean. She's trying to find Joy, trying to find significance. You trying to meet her need in all different places with relationship. But better what you really need is me. She doesn't need another man, but she really needs me because Jesus is a God who supplies of our names because Jesus said, come to me all who are weary and heavy, Even Jesus says I will give you rest for your soul. Jesus says everything that we need is in him. And that's why it says do not say. And in Jesus, give them there a parable after he told him that my food is to do, the will of God. That's what matters to me. Give them a parable, darius's, do you not say there are yet for months, then comes the Harvest. Typically when when they would plan to harvest, it's about 4 months to be ripe. They are yet for months, then comes the Harvest. Look that tells you lift up your eyes and see the fields are white for Harvest. That means, there's a lot of people out there that needs the gospel in. We need to share the gospel already. The one who reads is receiving wages and Gathering fruits for eternal life. So that silver and Reaper May Rejoice together. Do the saying, I'd probably some of the people you've talked to you about where Disciples of John that John was already doing that where John already sold that seed. But you you just get to read just like you did get to read that woman at the well, gets her. Heart was ready to Jesus the Same hate, do not underestimate the power of sowing a seed. Do not underestimate the power of sowing a seed. You might talk to somebody about Jesus, you may feel like it fall on deaf ear but Jesus ain't never know. Somebody else will talk to her and then that seed that was planted. And then all the sudden, I just germinate The Jesus is selling them for hear the saying holds true, one sold. And another reaps I sent you the reap that for which you did not labor. Others have labored and you have entered into the laborers are Jesus's. Think probably somebody else already shared the gospel with that. For the same thing, we need to sell and somebody else reap or we get to read what somebody else is sold in the story ends there. And verse 39, to 42 waist Esme. Nice Americans from the town believed in him because of the woman's testimony do not underestimate the power of your testimony. Your testimony is your testimony, is your story. Your story has to be shared. Everybody loves to hear a good story and let us and we can get our story is not good enough. You do what Jesus did for you, you share that word transformation that Jesus did for you, and I grew up in the church, but I never really understood the gospel. I was just there because my parents made me go. And that's where all my friends were, that would just like my social club. So, I went Or, you know, I was Far good. I had nothing to do with church. I've never been interested. I've never experienced church, I never really understood the gospel until one day, somebody share the gospel until one day, I was reading the Bible and islands of stewed. What it meant to be born again, whatever. Your story is, whether you feel like your life was empty, and you could really never find anything to to fulfil that. He tried to fulfil of Education in tribe with work. You drive with money, you try to everything you strive with Hobbies, but nothing seems to satisfy. When you go home at night, you still feel empty after all that you've accomplished, you know, just, you just got a doctorate degree, but the next day, you still feel the same old you. What you thought this was going to bring you satisfaction or you just made your first million-dollar, you touch something would change about you, but you're still the same old you. Jesus is saying there.
Don't underestimate the power of your testimony. Because of that woman's testimony. She only when it says come see a man who told me what we know we share our testimony, whatever it is the eggs you know I'm still learning. I had to because of her testimony, a lot of of the Samaritan people believe in Just One Day racial barriers were broken and just one gender barriers broken and just one day, religious barriers were broken. It doesn't have to fix that. We need a million seminar to find out. How does white people and black people worship together? Just nonsense. It is it just is Is it sinful? Play Just One Day, not those people were getting together and people were being saved because Jesus didn't care about those barriers that were placed in society because Jesus is a barrier breaker And so were the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them and he stayed there, two days so that only Jesus got to share the gospel. The woman got enough because of the woman, several of the Samaritans, got saved Jesus letra.
Let's come to Bible Fellowship. Let's eat, let's eat without you. Let's spend some time together in Jesus went to days with him. But we can't, I just seems like an hour together and just worshiping God, we would give all kinds of excuses, you know, the music is different, you know, the preachers speak differently. All kinds of excuses, excuses excuses. I remember when I was a school principal, I used to tell my students, all this all the time, excuses are tools of incompetence that build monuments of nothingness, and those who insist upon using that anything but excuses, excuses excuses and unfortunately that's what's going on and we just making excuses excuses after excuses for natural living out the gospel. But Jesus is telling us hey your men Ministry, is a gospel of reconciliation where you love all people because Jesus came is Jesus, The Exorcist. What was the greatest commandment? Jesus is to love God with all your heart. And the second one is just like it. You love people as yourself the whole Commandments. Lord who profits hangs on those two things. Love God. Love people. And many more believed because of his word they said to the woman, it is no longer because of what you said that, we believe what we have heard for ourselves. And we know that this is indeed the savior of the world. See, now, there's people got to experience Jesus for themselves.
It's Jesus doing the work in them and Jesus is the one that changes we cannot change anybody only Jesus can change people. That's exactly what happened there. This Americans were change. You see the gospel In Deed is for everyone, but gospel is life-changing. The gospel takes away our shame, the gospel satisfies our soul, I love Jeremiah 2:13. Where it says, for my people have committed two evils, they have forsaken me, the Fountain of Living Waters and who doubts, cisterns for themselves. Look at this. Broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
These are all the emptiness. You, that's what Solomon says. All is Vanity. See that the Bible says, there's a vacuum in our heart. Only God can feel. It doesn't matter what system that you put your life. Is it, your career, is it pleasure? Isn't that money? You know that the three things that will always crave for but Jesus said do it. Just broken cisterns. Big cannot hold water. Only Jesus can cistern can truly hold that. Nothing else? Hold up. Whatever we think. Will truly bring us joy for this woman. It was relationship. Bring you Joy. The only thing that can bring your joy is me. Isaiah 55 says, come everyone with terse come to the waters and he will have no money. Come by and eat. It says, he will have no money come by. So that means somebody else. Paid for it. Salvation is free. That's why Jesus said if you knew the gift of God was the gift Jesus, Come, buy, wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money and your labor for that? Which does not satisfy? Listen, diligently to me and eat what is good and Delight yourselves in rich food incline, your ear and come to me hear that your soul may live and I will make with you an Everlasting, Covenant, my steadfast Jewel, love with David. Jesus says Broken cisterns. And some of us, we even put our whole life. We determine our joy will be in our children or in our marriage, which is which all good things. But all those are broken systems because nothing last forever. Jesus says In Heaven, There will be, there will be no marriage will be given into marriage. It doesn't last forever. She always children will disappoint us our husbands and wives will disappoint us. But Jesus does not disappoint.
Jesus says, I am not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone, everyone who believes for the Jew first. And also, the greed did you first because the gospel was given to the Jewish Nation first to serve as a launching pad to everyone else in the world to the Jewish. People were looking despising, the Samaritans for Jesus was only lose using them as a launching Pad but Jesus came and broke down all those videos of the days. The gospel is for everyone only use you first. Jesus says, for the Greek and also, The Greek and the Gentiles, the really the natural is simply this, Jesus can deal with your sin. Whatever you're saying is Jesus can deal with it. Maybe that's why he came that's why he came used to deal with your sin. That's why on the cross. When it says Jesus says, I thirst. That was much more to die than just like a physical therapist, but it's possible because Jesus was about to be separated from God that he has never been separated from before. And that's why Jesus can meet this woman need in a, I will give you living water for Jesus can deal with your sin. That's why you came. She just needs you to have an open heart. He will meet all your memes says, come. Now in Matthew 11:28, all were labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest for your soul and Ephesians 3:20 was able to do far more abundantly above all. We may ever ask think, or imagine according to the power at work, would be nice to GMB glory in the church and in Christ Jesus. Amen. Father, thank you for your grace. Thank you for teaching us this morning. Lord God that the gospel is for everyone. The gospel is life-changing. Oh, thank you for changing our life. We are grateful and thankful. Thank you, Father.
