Acts 1:1
Teophilus - a person that is already a Christian
it was common in the ancient world for a single work to consist of several parts or books
Acts 1:2
The apostles = people who were with Jesus during His ministry and were specifically chosen to be witnesses to His resurrection.
One of the concerns of Luke is to demonstrate how both Jesus and the church were directed by the Spirit to fulfill the purpose of God for them. H.M.
Acts 1:3
Jesus was speaking about God’s Kingdom, nothing else!
God’s Kingdom = saving, sovereign action of God through Him.
Jesus’ message is this: your full-job is to spread the good news about God’s Kingdom. You saw Me: I was dead but now I am alive. Go tell all of them!
There is no PENTECOST without PASSOVER. But there is no more PASSOVER because of PRIDE. More specifically: self-deceiving, the most dangerous form of the pride.
We don’t have PROBLEMS with the PENTECOST because it is PROMISED! But we have PROBLEMS with the PASSOVER because we don’t PERTAIN to it.
Did you meet the RISEN Christ? If yes, that’s your fundamental REASON to speak to others!
The Pentecost is serving the Passover: the Pentecost brings out the POWER to PREACH about the PASSOVER event!
Acts 1:4
Promised - Holy Spirit: Gal. 3:14; Eph. 1:13;
