How To Love God With All Your Heart

Luke 10:27 ESV

27 And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”

I want to start off by saying: I’m working on loving God better every day. Not saying I have arrived but I’m making progress.

Not made for arrival but progress.

What does loving God look like?

We do not have a:

sin

reading and meditation of the Word

church attendance

prayer life

Worship

giving

What we love we spend our money on.

Luke 12:34 ESV

34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

If I was to look into what you spend your money on I would know what you love.

What we love we spend our time on.

Love is spelled T.I.M.E.

Time is your most precious gift because you only have a set amount of it. When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you'll never get back.

If God has our love He will have our time.

Time is an exchange of value like we exchange money for something we value. If we do not spend time with God we do not perceive the value of His presence enough to exchange of time for it.

What we love we are true and faithful to.

We give ourselves to it.

We commit our lives in marriage to the one we love.

key to having great faith is having a great love for God.

Galatians 5:6 AMP

6 For [if we are] in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith activated and energized and expressed and working through love.

What we love most is number one in our life. It is God in our life. God either meaning capital G or small G.

Proof of love is obedience.

John 14:15 ESV

15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

1 John 5:3 ESV

3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.

John 14:21 ESV

21 Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.”

We are willing to suffer for what we love.

Proof of love is pursuit. You pursue what you love.

If your married are you pursuing your spouse and their desires.

Proof of love for God is pursuing God and His desires?

Spending time with Him.

Reading His Word.

Loving what He loves and hating what He hates.

Proof of Love is suffering.

John 3:16–18 ESV

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

You are willing to suffer for what you love? If not than you might not love it as much as you think.

John 3:19 ESV

19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.

Just because someone sees God or sees God move in miraculous doesn’t mean they are going to love and follow God.

They might be impressed but thats not a guarantee they are going to love HIm.

How do I know that. Well God was in the flesh right in front of their eyes yet some decided to love darkness.

Revelation 2:4 ESV

4 But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first.
