Matthew 25:40 NASB95
40 “The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’
Helping others Transforms you.
Acts 20:35 NASB95
35 “In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
2. Helping others Trains your heart.
Matthew 6:21 NASB95
21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
a. God doesn’t want guilt giving.
b. God wants us to experience joy.
2 Corinthians 9:7 NASB95
7 Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
3. Helping others goes beyond Talk.
James 2:16 NASB95
16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?
4. Giving reflects God’s Top Two concerns!
Luke 10:26–29 NASB95
26 And He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?” 27 And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” 28 And He said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this and you will live.” 29 But wishing to justify himself, he said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
Talk to your family about how you can love your neighbors. Read the Good Samaritan in Look 10:30-37.
Consider how you can be part of caring for widows and orphans. We have several options.
a. You can adopt a child through Compassion. See Heidi Hackney.
b. You can give to the children we sponsor as a church. Even a few coins a week add up when gathered together.
c. You can be part of the Isaiah 117 House. www.Isaiah117house.com
