On an airplane if the O2 masks come down we must first put our mask on then help others. We need to make sure that our mask is in place or we will end up in the same trouble that those who don’t have their mask on in the first place. The same is true in a spiritual sense. We need to have a relationship with the Lord to help others or we will end up with them.
Jude begins by reminding us that there will be scoffers following their own ungodly passions and how to recognize these people.
Ungodly passion leads to wrath Romans 1:18
Passion is an attempt from the mind to satisfy the flesh. Our mind acts as a fulcrum between flesh and spirit Romans 8:5
The ungodly are also marked by being divided, without the Holy Spirit, and worldly.
Worldly people are easy to recognize because the world loves them. Are you hated? Why not? Luke 21:10-19
Is it hard to believe that family will turn you in? We see people turning on each other just about masks now.
Too often when we go into a church we see people who fit that exact description.
The beloved are supposed to be different than the ungodly. We are supposed to build and not divide and tear down. How many specifics are we given to focus on? What does that suggest to you?
Build ourselves up in holy faith. How can we do that?
Hebrew 11:1
Interact with God and learn about Him from the Bible as well? Without the Bible I would not believe in God. It is interesting how so many try to separate us from the Word.
Pray in the Holy Spirit
I believe this is automatic when we take a listening posture to our prayer. We are the clay He is the potter. We don’t tell God what we want, but rather ask and remember God knows what you need better than you do anyway. For this remember Romans 8:26 and also we need to constantly pray 1 Thessalonians 5:17 .
Keep ourselves in the love of God
Hebrews 13:5-6 if we rely on God, talk to Him about a great many things and not just when we want stuff is an excellent way to do that.
Wait for the mercy of Jesus our Lord
What is mercy?
If we wait for it then that means we are going to have struggle, but we also have hope for now and eternity.
Have mercy on those who doubt
Jude speaks in threes throughout this letter this is the simplest group of worldly people.
It is easy to get inflamed with pride or frustration depending on whether we focus on us or them, when we see how others are acting and what they believe.
Save others by snatching them out of the fire
I think of where I would be if I wasn’t plucked out of the fire and all who would be worse off. In this group here I can tell you that each one of you would be worse off if I wasn’t snatched out of the fire. I would probably not be around any of you.

This is the last group of worldly people who Jude is referring to.
the Greek word for fear used is Phobos, have terror or alarm when dealing with these people.
We can look at the garments that are worn by others and get an idea of the intentions that they have.
With this final group we can become corrupted just by their garments.

Closing: We have a description of the worldly and of the beloved. Which category do you fit into? Be honest. If you aren’t a Christian please do everyone a favor and stop saying that you are. If you want to be saved that is simple (not easy). If you are saved build yourself up. Your relationship with God depends totally on you.
