Matthew 16:18-20

Matthew 16:18–20 (NKJV): 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
20 Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.
What is the Church?
1. The Church is, an organized organism, compiled of individuals who have acknowledged that Yeshua/Jesus is Lord of their life.
2. Flawed but powerful people make up the membership of the Church. Flawed because they still have certain tendencies. Powerful because they have been born again.
3. It is safe to say that the Church is a movement, not an institution. It is a movement because the one who is the Founder, went from place to place declaring the Kingdom of God.
4. The Church is considered as the Body of Christ. A body made up of individuals who have been Blood washed and Fire Baptized.
5. Some have declared the Church to be a hospital, or a healing station. A place where those who are wounded can find healing for their souls. Those who have been damaged by the care of this world, can find comfort for their weariness.
6. Others have expressed that the Church is a saving station. A place where those who are lost can find salvation.
7. Yet it without a doubt, that the Church is a Beacon Light of Hope and of Truth, to a dark, hopeless, and unjust world.
8. The Church is the vehicle with which Jesus has chosen to represent Him, by being Witnesses to all they come upon.
However, the Church in modern times has a problem. The problem is, the Church is not being the Church. Yes my friends, the Church is not being the Church. Instead those who make up the Church have in many cases traded off who they are, and who Christ Jesus wants them to be, for something that is more appealing to the world.
