                                         Israel, the same as any other nation?

                                                                Ge 12:1-3                                  9/14/08 a.m.

 They are God’s people and its God’s land

Eze 38:16    16 My people Israel, My land,

Ge 12:1-3  Now the Lord had said to Abram:

     “Get out of your country,

     From your family

     And from your father’s house,

     To a land that I will show you.

2      I will make you a great nation;

     I will bless you

     And make your name great;

     And you shall be a blessing.

3     I will bless those who bless you,

     And I will curse him who curses you;

     And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Israel’s title deed to the land

 Ge 12:1-7   4 So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, to go to the land of Canaan. So they came to the land of Canaan. 7 Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.”

Isaac

Ge 21:3   And Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him—whom Sarah bore to him—Isaac.

Israel’s title deed to the land reaffirmed

Ge 26:2-3   2 Then the Lord appeared to him (Isaac) and said:   3 Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father.

Jacob

Ge 25:21-26   Now Isaac pleaded with the Lord for his wife, because she was barren; and the Lord granted his plea, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

24 So when her days were fulfilled for her to give birth, indeed there were twins in her womb. Esau. Jacob.

Israel’s title deed to the land reaffirmed

 Ge 28:10-13  10 Now Jacob went out from Beersheba and went toward Haran. 11 So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep. 12 Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

13 And behold, the Lord stood above it and said: “I am the Lord God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants.

From Jacob to Israel

Ge 32:27-29   28 And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel;

The children of Israel

 Ge 46:8-27   8 Now these were the names of the children of Israel, Jacob and his sons: Reuben was Jacob’s firstborn, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, Gad, Asher, Dan, Naphtali, Joseph, and Benjamin

The house of Israel, are My people

Eze 34:30   30 I, the Lord their God, am with them, and they, the house of Israel, are My people,” says the Lord God.’ ”

Israel is not,the same as any other nation; they are Gods chosen

 Eze 25:8-11    8 ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Because Moab and Seir say, ‘Look! The house of Judah is like all the nations,’ 9 therefore, behold, I will clear the territory of Moab of cities, of the cities on its frontier, the glory of the country,…. 11 And I will execute judgments upon Moab, and they shall know that I am the Lord.”

Against Israel against God

Eze 35:12-13    I have heard all your blasphemies which you have spoken against the mountains of Israel,  13 Thus with your mouth you have boasted against Me and multiplied your words against Me; I have heard them.

 Eze 35:15   15 As you rejoiced because the inheritance of the house of Israel was desolate, so I will do to you; you shall be desolate, O Mount Seir, as well as all of Edom—all of it!

God’s judgment of Israel

Eze 36:16-21   16 Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 17 “Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own ways and deeds; to Me their way was like the uncleanness of a woman in her customary impurity. 18 Therefore I poured out My fury on them for the blood they had shed on the land, and for their idols with which they had defiled it. 19 So I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed throughout the countries; I judged them according to their ways and their deeds.

Israel’s restoration for the Lord’s name sake

Eze 36:22-24    22 “Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “I do not do this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for My holy name’s sake, which you have profaned among the nations wherever you went. 23 And I will sanctify My great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst; and the nations shall know that I am the Lord,” says the Lord God, “when I am hallowed in you before their eyes. 24 For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land.

Russia and her Arab allies come against Israel before the battle of Armageddon

Eze 38:1-12   Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 2 “Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya are with them, all of them with shield and helmet; 6 Gomer and all its troops; the house of Togarmah from the far north and all its troops—many people are with you.

8 After many days you will be visited. In the latter years you will come into the land of those brought back from the sword and gathered from many people on the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate; they were brought out of the nations, and now all of them dwell safely. 9 You will ascend, coming like a storm, covering the land like a cloud, you and all your troops and many peoples with you.”

10 ‘Thus says the Lord God: “On that day it shall come to pass that thoughts will arise in your mind, and you will make an evil plan: 11 You will say, ‘I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful people, who dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates’— 12 to take plunder and to take booty, to stretch out your hand against the waste places that are again inhabited, and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, who dwell in the midst of the land.

Eze 38:16   16 You will come up against My people Israel like a cloud, to cover the land. It will be in the latter days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me, when I am hallowed in you, O Gog, before their eyes.”

Israel in the tribulation of John’s apocalyptic vision, Rev. 7:1–8

Re 7:1-8    After these things I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, on the sea, or on any tree. 2 Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, 3 saying, “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.” 4 And I heard the number of those who were sealed. One hundred and forty-four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed:

5     of the tribe of Judah twelve thousand were sealed;

     of the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand were sealed;

     of the tribe of Gad twelve thousand were sealed;

6     of the tribe of Asher twelve thousand were sealed;

     of the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand were sealed;

     of the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand were sealed;

7     of the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand were sealed;

     of the tribe of Levi twelve thousand were sealed;

     of the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand were sealed;

8     of the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand were sealed;

     of the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand were sealed;

     of the tribe of Benjamin twelve thousand were sealed.

The 1,00 year reign of Christ in the land of Israel

Zec 8:3    3 “Thus says the Lord:

     ‘I will return to Zion,

     And dwell in the midst of Jerusalem.

     Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth,

     The Mountain of the Lord of hosts,

     The Holy Mountain.’

Eze 37:21-28   21 “Then say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; 22 and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again. 23 They shall not defile themselves anymore with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. Then they shall be My people, and I will be their God.

24 “David My servant shall be king over them, and they shall all have one shepherd; they shall also walk in My judgments and observe My statutes, and do them. 25 Then they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob My servant, where your fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell there, they, their children, and their children’s children, forever; and My servant David shall be their prince forever. 26 Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them, and it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set My sanctuary in their midst forevermore. 27 My tabernacle also shall be with them; indeed I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 28 The nations also will know that I, the Lord, sanctify Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst forevermore.” ’ ”

Zec 2:10-12   10 “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” says the Lord. 11 “Many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you. 12 And the Lord will take possession of Judah as His inheritance in the Holy Land, and will again choose Jerusalem.

Eze 47:13-14   13 Thus says the Lord God: …  you shall divide the land as an inheritance among the twelve tribes of Israel.   14 You shall inherit it equally with one another; for I raised My hand in an oath to give it to your fathers, and this land shall fall to you as your inheritance.

Eternity

Re 21:10-14   10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. 12 Also she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: 13 three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west. 14 Now the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

Know for certain that Israel is God’s chosen people

Zec 2:8   8 For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.
