Evidence that Jesus is Working in One’s Life
Evidence that Jesus is Working in One’s Life 11/2/08 A.M.
Lk 7:22-23 Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them. 23 And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”
Jesus shows that He is the Christ by the effect on the people that allow Him to work in their lives.
That is what we want to look at this morning, the effect Christ has on those that “have” a life changing relationship with Him.
We will be looking past the physical application to the spiritual application.
Mt 16:23 …. You are an offense (stumbling block) to Me for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”
Ro 8:5 …. those who live according to the Spirit, (set their minds on) the things of the Spirit.
1 Co 14:20 Brethren, do not be children in understanding; … but in understanding be mature.
Let’s try for maturity in our understanding
God doesn’t see as man sees, man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.
1 Sa 16:7 7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
So let’s try to see as God sees.
Jesus said, it’s the heart of the matter that counts the most;
Murder is committed by hatred,
Adultery is committed by lust,
Idolatry is commented by greed and covetousness,
Blasphemy is committed by accrediting the works of the Holy Spirit to Satan
Let’s look at the heart of the matter.
As evidence that one has a life changing relationship with Jesus,
He describes
The blind,
The lame,
The leaper,
The deaf,
The dead,
The poor,
And the witness of Christ
As we look at these,
Let’s strive for maturity in understanding,
Let’s try to see as God sees,
And let’s look at the heart of the matter.
Lk 7:22-23 Jesus … said …, …
that the blind see,
the lamewalk,
the lepers are cleansed,
the deaf hear,
the dead are raised,
the poor have the gospel preached to them.
23 And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”
The blind see – see the error of ways thru the truth of God’s word-gain understanding
The lame walk – have obtained the ability to live the life of Christ
The lepers are cleansed – their life cleansed of sinful disease
The deaf hear – now listen to wise counsel/the word of God/Holy Spirit/heed truth
The dead are raised – now live a life of substance and worth
The poor have the gospel preached to them – fed by the word
The one who is not offended because of Me.” – not ashamed of the gospel
Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector
Lk 18:9-14 9 Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ 13 And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Is Jesus Lord of your life?
Today is the day of salvation
Maybe you’ve been touched by Jesus but have grown cold?
Jesus blesses us with times of refreshing!!
