The Law of God is a Witness to the Righteousness of God
The Law of God is a Witness to the Righteousness of God 10/05/08 a.m.
Why read the Law and observe the Feast of Tabernacles?
Ro 3:21-22 21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe.
The Day of the Lord
Zec 14:1-2;16 Behold, the day of the Lord is coming,
And your spoil will be divided in your midst.
2 For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem;
16 And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.
The other feasts (Passover and Pentecost) have been fulfilled, but the Feast of Tabernacles, which marked the time of thanksgiving for the final harvest, finds its fulfillment during the millennial kingdom of the Messiah[1]
The Law of God is absolute and perpetual.
Mt 5:17-18. 17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.
The Law of God is described as;
Pure.
Ps 19:8. 8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
Spiritual.
Ro 7:14. 14 For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin.
Deals with the heart of man
Holy, just, and good.
Ro 7:12. 12 Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.
Perfect.
Ps 19:7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God
Truth.
Ps 119:142142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness,
And Your law is truth.
Exceeding broad.
Ps 119:96. 96 I have seen the consummation of all perfection,
But Your commandment is exceedingly broad.
Sin is the transgression of The Law of God
1Jo 3:4. 4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
The Law of God gives the knowledge of sin
Ro 3:20; 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Ro 7:7 ….., I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”
It is man’s duty to keep The Law of God
Ec 12:13. 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God and keep His commandments,
For this is man’s all.
But Man cannot render perfect obedience to The Law of God
Ro 3:10. 10 As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;
Jas 2:10 10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.
Therefore Man cannot be justified by The Law of God
Ga 2:16; 16 knowing that a man is not justified (declared righteous) by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
3:11. 11 But that no one is justified (declared righteous) by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.”
The Law of God is established by faith.
Ro 3:31. 31 Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.
Therefore The Law of God was Designed to lead us to Christ.
Ga 3:24. 24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Christ came to fulfill The Law of God
Mt 5:17-18. 17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.
By living a sinless life by becoming a sacrifice for sin
By fulfilling prophecy by fulfilling the word of God
Christ is the “goal” of The Law of God “for righteousness”
Ro 10:4 4 For Christ is the “end” of the law “for righteousness” to everyone who believes.
5056 τέλος [telos /tel·os/] n n. From a primary tello (to set out for a definite point or goal); TDNT 8:49; TDNTA 1161; GK 5465; 42 occurrences; AV translates as “end” 35 times, “custom” three times, “uttermost” once, “finally” once, “ending” once, and “by (one’s) continual + 1519” once. 1 end. 1a termination, the limit at which a thing ceases to be (always of the end of some act or state, but not of the end of a period of time). 1b the end. 1b1 the last in any succession or series. 1b2 eternal. 1c that by which a thing is finished, its close, issue. 1d the end to which all things relate, the aim, purpose. 2 toll, custom (i.e. indirect tax on goods).[2]
Obedience to The Law of God is a characteristic of saints
Re 12:17. 17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Obedience to The Law of God is of utmost importance.
1Co 7:19. 19 Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments of God is what matters.
The Law of God is the rule of the judgment.
Ro 2:12,16. 12 For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law 16 in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.
Blessedness of keeping The Law of God .
Re 22:14. 14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
Do you know
That sin is the breaking of Gods’ Law
That we all have broken Gods’ Law
That the penalty for breaking Gods’ law is eternal death – hell
That Jesus has paid the price for your sin
That if you accept His payment for your sin and Him as your savor, you will be saved
That being saved is to be saved from Gods’ wrath -hell
Ro 10:9-10 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
