13 Who has measured the Spirit of the Lord, or what man shows him his counsel?
14 Whom did he consult, and who made him understand? Who taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding?
Being Judged By the All Knowing God
Review the things that God knows about you
20 But, O Lord of hosts, who judges righteously, who tests the heart and the mind, let me see your vengeance upon them, for to you have I committed my cause.
5 Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God.
12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.
The Memory of the Omniscient God
“For us, a bad memory may be mistaken for a clear conscience. This is never the case with the omniscient God.”
“We are glad that the years pile upon our past in order to separate us from the details and blur our memory of the shame.”
2 The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God.
3 They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one.
Sin is the denial of God’s unlimited knowledge of us
11 He says in his heart, “God has forgotten, he has hidden his face, he will never see it.”
2 But they do not consider that I remember all their evil. Now their deeds surround them; they are before my face.
9 Then he said to me, “The guilt of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great. The land is full of blood, and the city full of injustice. For they say, ‘The Lord has forsaken the land, and the Lord does not see.’
12 “Is not God high in the heavens? See the highest stars, how lofty they are!
13 But you say, ‘What does God know? Can he judge through the deep darkness?
14 Thick clouds veil him, so that he does not see, and he walks on the vault of heaven.’
Every sin is in come measure a denial of God’s omniscience
Are you a practical atheist?
Living daily as if God were not, or as if He were not as He has described Himself to be.
It is foolish to hope that the guilt of our sin might be hidden from God by the distance of years or the cloak of religious words.
It is foolish to think that we would be better off if God’s knowledge of us were not so complete.
“Here is the silent statement that lies at the root of every willful sin: we prefer that this all-knowing Judge did not exist.”
“Apart from the labors of Jesus Christ, all people face a continuing terror. They are exposed to an all-knowing God before whose face every one of their sins has been acted out.”
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
7 For we are brought to an end by your anger; by your wrath we are dismayed.
8 You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.
The All-Knowing God and our Rescue
“The all-knowing God has exercised all His knowledge in choosing, sending, and equipping His Son to be a perfectly suited rescuer of His enemies.”
“The omniscience and perfect memory of God are in truth strong comforts when they are viewed from within the refuge of the person and work of Jesus Christ.”
“Only a person who knows with unfailing precision the number, immensity, and nature of every one of our offenses can offer a perfect payment for each one. If any sin in us was not known to God when He laid the plans for our redemption, then we would have reason to fear that perhaps one day we would commit a sin for which He had made no provision.”
11 Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities.
“You have forgotten more sins than you remember. If it were left to you to say how much forgiveness you needed, you would never be able to give what God desires and what we owe.”
12 Who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults.
19 By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him;
20 for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything.
