LOOKING INTENTLY INTO THE MIRROR
JAMES 1:18-25.
V. 18 INTRODUCTION
READ TEXT: V. 22-25
BORN AGAIN THROUGH THE WORD
ILL: For some the Bible is like the Queen of England, Held in high esteem, but really doesn’t have any power over you personally.
T.S. Salvation brought about through the Word, but it doesn’t stop there, it can grow you in Christ, transform you.
v.19-21 HEAR THE WORD
V.21a Get the wax out of your ears (original lang.)
V.19-20 Quick to hear, slow to speak and no anger.
V.21b Planted in you - to transform you.
Romans 12:2 (NIV)
2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
v.22-25 DO THE WORD
v.22-24 Don’t just listen
ILL: Mirror (dirt on face/food/hair messed up, etc.)
v.25a Intently look into the perfect Word of God
ILL: Fun house mirrors…no perfect
v. 25b CONCLUSION
Promise - blessed in what you do…
