Firm Foundation of Love

God’s love lifts one from the lowest depths of sin.

1. The foundation of our salvation is God’s love.

· John 3:16 - God so loved the world

· John 10:11 - the good shepherd lays down His life

His love has been demonstrated in Jesus Christ.

· Romans 5:8 - when I was at my worst

Every man is born a sinner, and under condemnation of death.

· Romans 3:22-23 - all sinned

· 1 John 1:8, 10 - Lie to our-self

· Romans 5:12 - death passed upon all

Under sin, one loves only their self.

· Ephesians 2:3 - course of the world; by nature

· 1 John 2:15-16 - he who loves the world has no love for God

If we believe in Jesus as the Christ, then we believe –

Jesus is God’s Son, and that God sent His Son to be killed as a sacrifice for the ungodly and unrighteous sinner.

This means we believe God loves us. “God loves me.”

God’s love for me existed before I ever loved Him.

His love for me existed even when I was at my worst - when I was living in my sins.

· 1 John 4:10 - He loved me first

· 1 John 4:16 - believing God’s love for us

2. The Foundation Of Our Relationship With God Is Love.

We love God through our faithfulness to Him.

Jesus said if we love Him, we will keep His commandments.
