Memories and Moments
"On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine— the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth. The LORD has spoken. In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”" (Isaiah 25:6-9, NIV)
If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:31-39, NIV)
" from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus." (2 Timothy 3:15, NIV)
A Legacy lived
A Mother is always with you.
As Rick has read there are things that a mother leaves to her children.
· It is not the good china or the grandfather clock or an investment portfolio
· The things a mothers leaves are not tangible
· They are the memories and the moments of life
o Like her standing on a chair because a mouse was in the house
o Or the fact that she was the #1 gravy maker for the Roast beef dinner here at the church
o Trudy has left us the memories of hidden liver squeaky rocking chairs
o The treks to church for every occasion and attending Immanuel school
o Those time of lying in bed together even the last time on Monday
While these memories are significant and will last the rest of your lives, the most important thing that your mother left to you is summarized in Trudy’s confirmation verse that she wanted read on this occasion. " from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus." (2 Timothy 3:15, NIV). You have been given a legacy of faith.
For something to be a legacy it must first have been a possession of those who have gone before. Trudy cherished her faith as seen in the comfort that this passage gave to her.

A legacy of life that begins in the resurrection continues through the apostles and church fathers, is passed on to our grandparents and parents and now rests with us. A legacy that gives more than silver or gold, it give eternal life.
