RECEIVING AND WALKING

(COL. 2:6)

I. RECEIVING AND WALKING FROM THE POINT OF SALVATION (V.6)

A. OUR CONDITION

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Ro. 3:23)

Received Him in your need.

Walk with Him in your need.

B. FAITH IN GOD

"But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is..." (Heb.11:6)

Received Him by faith.

Walk with Him by faith.

C. GRACE OF GOD

"But the gift of God is eteternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Received Him as the gift of God.

Walk with Him expecting to receive all things from Him freely.

D. CALL OF GOD

"For as we have many member in one body, and all members have not the same office:" (Ro.12:4)

Received Him at the call of God.

Walk with Him where he has called you.

II. RECEIVING AND WALKING IN TOTAL COMMITMENT (V.7)

A. OUR LORD

Received Him as Christ Jesus the Lord.

Walk with Him as your Saviour and Lord.

B. OUR COMMITMENT TO GOD

"Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service."

Received Him totally in your life.

Walk with Him as being your total life.

III. THINGS THAT CAN TRIP YOU AS YOU WALK WITH THE LORD (V.8)

Don't let anyone trip you while you walk with Christ

A. PHILOSOPHY

Trip you with philosophy (they profess themself to be wise, but become fools.)

B. EMPTY LIES

"changed the truth of God into a lie..." (Ro.1:25)

Trip you with empty lies (not of God, evil, satan is a lier)

C. TRADITIONS

Scripture is what should be our only authority, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrin, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect thoroughly furnished unto all good works." (2Tim 3:16)

Trip you with their own traditions (Legalism of Judaisers, today)

D. SPECULATIONS & THEORIES

Trip you with the theories and speculations of the world that are taken as elementary facts and principles. (evolution)

CONCLUSION:

Have you recieved him?

"That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved."

So simple to receive him...just believe what He did for you.
