On Eagles Wings

Isaiah 40:28-31

28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.  Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Gary, Bruce, Judy and Linda and family and friends, Peace and Mercy from our Lord Jesus Christ.

The text for our meditation is take from Is. 40: 28-31

                        (read Text)

After talking with the family on Tuseday and listening to them describe Edna, I felt that our text from Isaiah 40 seemed to fit her best.

When I think of an Eagle I think of a feircly independent creature, one that loves to soar free and is very protective of her young.

I believe it was Bruce who said that When Mom had an opinion, You didn’t have to long before she would tell you.  Edna was an independent person; some would call her strong willed.  The fact that she eloped to Waterloo and then wrote her parents and waited to the second paragraph to tell them she was married, is a testimont to her independence.  When she was first diagnosed with cancer, her comment was “How am I going to mow the lawn next year.”  Edna was also one who loved to soar free, to feel the wind in her hair so to speak.  This was especially true when it came to driving.  She was known to stretch the speed limits occasionally going 45 in the 25 zone and speeding from Danny’s French fry store leaving Judy lying on the ground.

She was eagle like in her care for and protection of her young.  She was a hard worker who always put the kid and family first.  She could be strict in discipline when necessary and stood up for her family when the situation called for it.

The most important part of Edna was her strength of Faith.  Edna was conscious of her sin and need for a savior.  She taught her children the importance of worshipping every Sunday.  Just days ago She received the Lord’s Supper for the last time.
