Deuteronomy 4v6-8

What is the purpose of the law?

God’s covenant signs

Demonstration of t he nature of God (8)

God’s people were to keep God’s covenant law

not to ‘get in’

but show show what God is like (6)

Not simply a list of arbitrary rules to help us live together better.

Not a test of commitment or self denial

Not even a goal to aim for

But a witness to the very nature of God.
