1 Cor 12:1-11 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed. 2 You know that when you were pagans you were led astray to mute idols, however you were led. 3 Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit.
4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8 For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.
Abuse of the Prophetic Gift
Prophecy is incredibly powerful. It is intended to be the utterances directly from God.
But when speaking over someone life people should have just as strong a character as gifting the fruits of the spirit should be manifest in the person that is a prophet.
Galatians 5:16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

Matthew 7:23 Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
Jesus is saying I am not interested in your gifts you can perform miracles caste out demons and prophecies, but your character is more than questionable.
You can do all these things in my name, but you never knew me. You can perform these acts but not know God.
The is no turning away for sin and conviction of the Holy spirit.
These are instances of redirecting some one’s life and if not coming directly from God should not be spoken. If someone has a dream, or these types of things are revealed to them the prophet they ae not to be shared with the individual but are shown to them so that they know in which area to pray for the individual.
Simple Prophecy which is the place where most persons in the body of Christ operate out of. We are all called to operate this way.

Abuse number one is giving direction to people.
Not to speak new direction over someone’s life. But when speaking over someone life people should have just as strong a character as gifting the fruits of the spirit should be manifest in the person that is a prophet.
Examples
· Choosing a spouse or saying who you are going to marry.
· Where and how to invest your money
· What city to move to or house to buy
· You are going to have a baby next year.
· You are going to have a boy or a girl.
· You are going to be a million air.
· You are going to by that car or a check is coming in the mail.
We can give Godly council, but we are not to say that the Lord gave me a word for you there is a difference. People innocently and ignorantly take these words and they change people’s lives.
Why to benefit themselves – believers start to question their decisions sometimes from what they have heard at a conference. A word from God must be confirmed by two other sources.
God Said, God Said with no scriptural backing. These words come from overzealous people.
When you get a prophetic word of direction from one that is flowing in the office do not step out before you get confirmation from God, you need two witnesses.
Sometimes your feelings make you think that is God directing you but is really your emotions.
Just because God shows you someone’s future does not mean you share it with them. That revealing is there as a prayer directive not to give a prophetic word.
Not everything God shows is meant to be shared or spoken. Let not what you do for good be evil spoke of. People don’t want to make decision on their own and look to the person of God.

Not to tell the future to correct inform of the church etc. is not the intent of this.
Good rule of thumb Money Babies Marriage stay away from if you are beginning to exercise the gift of prophecy. You don’t have a cupid anointing, you need to sow in this ministry, the lord is telling you to break off your engagement because the Lord is telling me that there is a man of God in this church fo you to marry.
We need to quit lying on God. Quit making everything spiritual when it is not even spiritual. Quit using the word of God to further your agenda.
Don’t seek or follow a random word spoken over your life. It is damaging and can ruin somebody’s life.
Do you know this person’s character? How about developing your spiritual life in such a manner that you get clear direction from God? The word should be confirmation not a new deal.
God is not hiding his plan from you.
He is not hiding His direction from you,
YOU HAVE DIRECT ACCESS TO THE LORD AND YOU DO NOT WANT TO SPEND TIME IN THE SECRET PLACE.
Get your direction directly from God.
Be Careful giving timelines, pray about it don’t let this be an opportunity to show off
What are the motivations of people who do this?
1. To show they have more of the spirit that others.
2. To lift themselves up over others
3. To have control over you
4. To access your finances
5. To misuse or abuse you spiritually.
6. To connect with them and them only
Number two abuse - To be over confrontational they want to fight everybody.

Calling someone out and correcting them for their Sin abuses them, just because we see their sin does not mean we need to call them out. Matthew 18:15 15 “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.

Number three- Over Reliance of Prophetic Dreams
You should not direct the direction of your life over dreams you get or others.
Id does not mean that it was God Why not rely on God’s word.
You don’t pray all day and no commitment in your waking hours but get your direction from dreams on dreams only. Relying more on dreams the Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Dreams are not to be a substitute for you and a healthy growing relation with God. Seek His face and He will show you things that you know not.
Do not base your life on a persons dream again ask God to confirm.

Number Four - Need a word for everything
Some people won’t do anything without a prophetic word.
· What shoes to wear
· What toothpaste to use
· God tole me not to talk to this person.
· God told me to park here
Where is your common sense?
If you live this way you will be undecisive because you are always waiting on a prophetic word
We are always waiting on God when often times God is waiting on you.
Listen He has given us thing to do, do we need a prophetic word to pray for the sick, to and to follow other commands of God.
Number Five - Prophetic Manipulation
Flattery
Change Church leadership
God is not saying. God says Revival is happening and God did not say that. You are trying to benefit off people misusing the gift of prophesy. This is demonic.
James 3:14 Bitter envy and self-seeking Earth Sensual and demonic This is doing it with wrong intentions. If Guilt trip the lord shows me you need to do this manipulation.
They may be your pastor they are not your master.

Number Six - Always Prophesy In Private
This should immediate be a red flag
How do you hold them accountable Isolation and connect with you one on one
If some one has a word they should do it in the open not in secret
Be very careful of prophesying over the opposite sex, you need to have a person of the opposite sex. If you are married, you should not be in a private room. Listen you should not be interfacing alone with the opposite sex. People get attached to you and things could go in the wrong direction. Weird stuff happens, remember don not let what you do for good be even spoken off.
Number seven not acknowledging missed prophetic words. We must all be accountable for the words we speak. We must be accountable and humble ourselves if we are wrong. Giving timelines etc. Eventually if you do not humble yourself the gift will diminish.
Jer 22:30 They steal my words from each other. This is directed at those who say the Lord said when it did not come directly from God to you. People do this when their gift starts to diminish and to keep the appearance that they connected to God and are still in the flow.
