Thankful for you all for making it to this training event
For those who are already serving, or have served in the past...
For those who are here because you are interested in serving in kids, this meeting is not a commitment for you to serve. In fact, there are some steps that need to be taken first before you can begin serving… we will talk about that here in just a moment when we begin looking at our manual
Our agenda items:
Mission
Introduce new policy manual
Familiarize ourselves with our classrooms
Introduce new PCO systems
Preparing to serve
close in a time of prayer
Before we get into the policies and systems that we are going to be using,
Remind us of our mission
Our mission is not....
Safety
A well oiled machine
It’s not even to teach kids about Bible
Often we think these are our goals. But if that’s all we are doing, then our children will never be saved...
We are not trying make Pharisees out of our children.
You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.
Our mission is to make disciples our children… hopefully this is why you are a part of kids discipleship… hopefully this is why you are interested in serving with the kids at LWC
Forming passionate followers of Jesus by proclaiming the gospel of the glory of God
I want us to feel the weight of this task…
Remember Moses when he was a prince of Egypt in Exod 2
But I don’t want us to be afraid
Remember Moses as a lowly shepherd in Exod 3 and 4
But Moses said to the Lord, “Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.” Then the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.”
The season that we are in as a church is far from ideal
Even for me, I often feel overwhelmed by kids ministry
The horse is made ready for the day of battle,
but the victory belongs to the Lord.
Before we begin looking at our policy manual, let me show you my cards… this is my first time leading kids ministry, and the policy manual might reveal this in some ways. I have a lot to learn from you all… so please help me along the way! But also I want you to know, I am here to help you however I can.
But we are a part of the body of Christ, and we all have different gifts, so let’s use use them, sharpen them, and in all of this, let’s repent on the Lord.

Pray for your time with the kids who you will be serving, and pray that the Lord would cause for them to pay attention to the Word as you teach and proclaim the gospel
But don’t spend time in the word and in prayer when you are getting ready to serve… keep walking with the Lord week in and week out regardless of whether you are teaching kids or not.
Kids can spot insincerity, and they can spot love that is genuine
Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.
We are returning to where we started… remember it isn’t our knowledge of the Bible that will change the hearts of our children. Rather, it’s our knowledge of God.
Show up fifteen minutes early
Pray in groups
