Incredible story but 1 verse (Shamgar doesn’t deserve more)

It’s not fair

All is grace and no names should exist in our Bibles

Is it enough for you to have your name written in the most important book?

Are the amen’s in heaven enough for you?

1-3 (Lets not forget what sin cannot do)

We enter the pattern of sin and God’s discipline

You can’t change or fix the external if the problem is within

You pull the judge away and they go rogue like a teacher leaving the classroom

We run so quickly to some external change

Body image won’t cure shame, taking stuff off the plate won’t give peace and rest (my struggle with control)

My stay and watching pet cemetery left a dark feeling

The Canaanites are a picture of what sin does internally

Let’s not forget sin will time and time again not measure up

I have not found the sin that satisfies

4-10 (Let us not forget who the glory belongs to and to trust God)

He would not get the glory was not a rebuke but proof she was a true prophet of God Deut. 18:22

Would you do something if no one noticed you, gave you praise, returned the favor and you would get no glory but God would?

Also 900 chariots wins every-time so they were outmatched but told to trust God

Never ever did I think I would be where I am or I can’t see how any good could come out of this...

God +no one =victory every time

God grows us through patience and perseverance through trusting him and if nothing else you will learn what it is to have peace in the midst of a war only through trust!

11 (Let us not forget God is sovereign)

Every small move or detail God is working

12-22 (let us not forget justice will come)

The battle happens and they leave their chariots

We cheat and know God brought down the thunder

Chariots made of iron, stuck in the mud in a lightning storm are no good

He finds refuge with Jael and a nice glass of milk

Before she gets him all tucked in tight and drives a spike through his temple

God is a warrior and a lamb but the warrior returns again

For those who struggle or think this is a violation of the 10 commandments lets address this:

Israel didn’t have civil justice at this time which is why they were going up to Deborah

If they did the Canaanites would have faced the death penalty for raping Israelite women

Just execution is not the same as murder and this is what Jael did. She put the fluid in the IV but this was justice

Let’s not forget if we are an atheist what we are appealing to

Why we don’t have to do this now? The cross where we see justice!

We have all broken God’s justice system

On a hill Deborah sought to bridge people together in the midst of their problems but Jesus went on a hill to bridge God and humanity from our greatest problem (sin)

Jael took a stake and drove it through a man’s head to bring justice to Israel and save them but Christ had stakes driven through him to bear God’s wrath and punishment and to save and reconcile us back to Him. Jael removed a threat but Christ destroyed the only threat that can separate us and rot us from the inside out.

Let us not forget either we try harder or trust that justice is paid

Trust leads to rest, joy and peace

As soon as you add any portion of you it is not the gospel of grace

Everyday you don’t have to strive for God’s love and the moment you try to do anything to maintain it, it is not the gospel of grace!

Let us not forget we do not point to any glimpse of our life for God’s full love and acceptance but we point to Christ moral life and behavior and say that is mine because he transfered and imputed it to me.

Let us not forget we have a name by grace and the full measure of God’s infinite love and approval

Heaven and earth will pass away but not Christ words: no one can pluck them, nothing can separate them

Brings peace and rest on the inside

Gives us a new heart and correct motivations to run and struggle. The gospel of grace is the only thing that can give true transformation, repentance and faith anything else is a counterfeit.

The gospel of grace is greater than an external barrier because it rewires us from the inside out

Loves us to the core and accepts us to the core which is what our souls need

Much like me getting Beary for Joey but on a far greater level!

Trying makes you rotten and trusting makes you righteous!

If you can earn grace or God’s love then it isn’t either because grace and God’s love can’t be earned but freely given and received moment by moment everyday forever!

No one can pluck and no one can take your name away!
