Bible is full of good moms whose kids made a difference for the kingdom of God. see if you can relate to any of these:
1. Rahab- a prostitute who followed the Lord and had a child whose long descendant would be Boaz.
2. Ruth- a pagan woman who followed the Lord and married Boaz. Together they raised Jessee who would the father of David the King, from whom later Joseph, the husband of Mary would be born.
3. Hannah- who in her desperation of wanting a child, promised to give God her first born child. she did and her son Samuel made a difference for the kingdom of God.
4. Eve- we know her and Adam raised their children to follow the Lord because we find them sacrificing to them. When Cain was banished after murdering Able for pleasing God, he started a nation that even though started the fine arts, they did not call on the name of the Lord. Eve had another son, Seth and from him we find people began to call on the name of the Lord.
5. Mary- we don’t know much about her except she was highly favored to carry Jesus. We do find her at His cross.
Jezebel and Ahab’s kids, Jehoram & Ahaziah, & Athaliah
Jehoram was eventually killed by Jehu (2Kings 9:24).
Ahaziah died from an illness when he fell from a 2 story window. he was known for following the practices of his mother and father:
51 Ahaziah the son of Ahab became king over Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel. 52 He did evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of his father and in the way of his mother and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who had made Israel sin; 53 for he served Baal and worshiped him, and provoked the Lord God of Israel to anger, according to all that his father had done.
athaliah married king Jehoram. like her mother she persuaded her husband to walk in the ways of heer canaanite god Baal. their son Ahaziah ruled did evil by athaliah’s influence. he was killed by Jehu (2kings 9:27)
why do i talk about Jezebel on a day like this? Perhaps to remind you of your influence over your kids, especially when it comes to the things of God.
Are we raising our kids with an eternity perspective or earthly?
unto thousands of generations vs punished unto the 4th generation
