1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Our text urges each of us to become come separate.
To present our body to him as worship.
I was in prayer one day and the lord impressed it on my heart as I was asking him what worship was.
And he started telling me its not just the lifting of our hand or some great song that we can sing.
It not just a service.
He say it not just something that you do.
It is truly who I want you to become.
So my desire is not just to worship but every part of my life. From when I wake to when I lay down to sleep
How I talk to people, how I respond to circumstances, how I treat people, in everything that I do, in everything that I am.
I want to worship God in my life.
Look at somebody and say present your body….
Body is the Greek Body sōma meaning whole body
Many times we think this is just talking about sex.
No this is referring to body soul and spirit.
Every part every moment, every thought, I want to present it holy to the lord.
That mean when somebody cut me off, or if somebody mean to me.
I want the way that I respond to glorify and worship the lord.
Then he goes on to say.
Do not conform to this world but be transformed.
When God speaking to my heart about this word.
I was going to name it Superman, and then I was going to name it Superhero’s.
Because when I look at our child hood superhero’s you find that in each of them. They had something different and something that separated them from the world.
Because
4 You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
greater is he that is in me then he that is in the world.
All my life I tried to fit in. I have tried to make people like my, but there has aways been something different.
Something that set me apart.
For the x-men it was the x-jean, for super man. It was his superpower.
For me it is the holy-Ghost.
I may look like everyone else but there is something on the inside of me that separate me from that with is worldly.
And I will not conform.
But be transformed.
Like the transformer that I saw as a kid.
Remember Optimus Prime he had a strong sense of justice and righteousness, and has dedicated himself to the protection of all life, particularly the inhabitants of Earth; he will battle his foes with unyielding resolve to uphold this belief.
This is how Wikipedia describes him.
He was a truck that would transform to something totally different.
Something ordinary, something plane.
God is going a work in me.
Yes I was rejected, yes I was abandon, yes I was mistreated, yes I was hurt.
Things may look bad, time may be hard, financially I may not be making it, I may be going thru depression.
Maybe I am going thru hell
Feeling helpless, feeling useless, feeling purposely
Feeling heavy and lonely and isolated.
I need God to transform me.
Transform my thinking, change my thought. I need God to transform
Because my desire is to become worship.
My desire is to passionately apprehend the full of who God is.
To be transformed by the renewing of the mind.
The word Transformed. Is the word met-am-or-fo'-o meaning to metamorphose
Many times w think this is just talking about sex.
Like a caterpillar to a butterfly.
Or like Clark Kent into to superman.
So the question become how does one metamorphose? How does one change.
Turn your bible to
3 being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. 4 Such confidence we have through Christ toward God. 5 Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God, 6 who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
It is not religion that can transform you
transformation only come thru the spirit.
23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
7 But if the ministry of death, in letters engraved on stones, came with glory, so that the sons of Israel could not look intently at the face of Moses because of the glory of his face, fading as it was,
Now notice this scripture. Moses love God, the bible says that his relationship with God was so strong that he would talk to God like one would with a friend.
This was not a religious thing with him.
It was not about impressing people with his knowledge of God and the bible.
It was intense and passionate. He would stand and look at the very glory of God.
Notice that it was in the present of God that he was transformed.
His face was shine. The very glory of God would fall upon him.
1 “Arise, shine; for your light has come, And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. 2 “For behold, darkness will cover the earth And deep darkness the peoples; But the Lord will rise upon you And His glory will appear upon you.
This is the place God want his People to be in. Pursuing him seeking his face. Coming
Into the his present and live there
With this relationship come revelation and God give him the law and God give him the plan and the direction to build the tabernacle.
See in the old testimony we are taught that the veil was because the people where scared of him Moses face.
Look at verse 11
11 For if that which fades away was with glory, much more that which remains is in glory. 12 Therefore having such a hope, we use great boldness in our speech, 13 and are not like Moses, who used to put a veil over his face so that the sons of Israel would not look intently at the end of what was fading away.
But we see here that it is because God does not want the people to see his Glory fade.
We all can shine like a light in the church but what happen when we come down.
Who do you respond on Monday, or with your boss, or kids.
Verse 14-16 tell us that there is still a veil today aka Religion.
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
This is that spirit that renew the mind
Frees it.
18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
Here it is the transformation come in his presents.
In that intimate time. When it you and the father alone.
When he show you more of how he is.
In your time of prayer, when you stop talking and he starts.
In that time when you are hurting and confused and shaken. You cast all your cares upon a God how cares for you.
We look to Jesus as we would look in a mirror. We stare into his glory, we find his character, his his nature and his being.
We look at his glory and his very being.
Not just the law, but his very essence. And become like he is day to day, moment to moment, and glory to glory.
Pursuing him wanting him seeking his face. Never wanting anything to separate you from him. Because he has become you one desire.
David say One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the LORD
And to meditate in His temple.
I want him, I desire his present.
Then David say in
11 Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
I need the transforming Power of your Presents.
That is the only way I can become like you.

1 See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
Be not conformed, but be transformed.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
Now I know many of our finest bible scholar take this scripture as eschatology.
And the when we see him is referring to heaven.
But if you look at the rest of the text in context it would not make much since.
8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.
Let just say that maybe this text is not just about heaven but on earth.
That now, not one day, not later, but now we are his son and daughter.
We don’t know what we shall be or do. Nor do we know what tomorrow hold.
But every time we see a new side of him. Every time I see him be merciful I because I am his son become like him.
And I become merciful.
Every time I see his example I become like him.
2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
In this I find encouragement. In this I find the renewing of my mind.
Beholding him, pursuing him, what I might become like.
Every time I see him I become like him.
As I was laying out side in prayer not long ago.
He met me.
And he began to challenge and ask me several question
If you never preach to thousand (will you still Pursue and trust me)
If you never have a big ministry
If you never see the dead raised
If you never see healing
If you never see demon casted out
If you never preach again
If I never make you rich
If you never travel the world
I started to weep and cry and I responded to each of these with a yes.
Because I realized something.
This is not my greatest purpose in life.
Having a great ministry, big church, seeing the world, marrying and having kid.
The greatest purpose that my life has is being like him.
Transforming to him image.
My one desire is to dwell in his house. And become like him.
I want to marry the lamb.
This is my purpose to express who he is to this world
Not to be conformed but to be transform and the only way to do that is to be in his presents and allow his spirit to transform my mind’
And to become like he is…..
