Luke 6:46–49 NKJV
46 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? 47 Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. 49 But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”
This Passage is about obedience: see verse Luke 6:46

How do we re-build a life?

1. By Laying a strong Foundation.

How do we lay a strong Foundation?

Luke 6:48 NKJV
48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.

Notice the Phrase “Dug Deep

a. what are some things that blow over the foundation of our life?

Past behavior, worry over our children, worry over our criminal case, worry over our futures. we can also get our foundations covered by spiritual things we covered our lives with while we were in the far country.
“The far country” is a term that we use to describe addiction and backsliding. the term far country comes from Luke 15:13. Many of us where raised in the truth and in church and yet find ourselves here. We know some portion of the truth. Our life took us away from the Rock who is Jesus. We often do not realize that lies have blown over the foundation of our lives and in so much while we may be geographically over where the rock is, we have allowed the sands of life to blow over our faith and we have lost our connection with Christ.

b. How do we dig deep?

The Holy Spirit will open my eyes to the truth.

Ephesians 1:17–18 NKJV
17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

The spirit will search you heart and mind.

Romans 8:27 NKJV
27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

This means meditation:

in your morning routine when you do your quit time, in your personal prayer time ask the Lord to reveal to you the truth about the false things of the world that have blown over your foundations.
This is what I need to do often.

2. Storms are going to come!

Luke 6:48–49 NKJV
48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. 49 But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”
Some people act like when you fallow Jesus, there will be no storms.
its not if troubles come it is when.
are you ready?
did you lay a foundation!

3. what is faulty in your foundation?

when was the last time that you took a look at your foundation?
is it what it should be?
what needs to change?
do you realize that if you don’t come up with a plan and put it into action nothing will ever happen?
do you know that the purpose of God inside you is going to be a huge blessing to the people it was intended for?
