Mother’s Day - Luke 1

Submission to God

Mary’s life was interrupted by a startling angelic message.

She is told nothing about some important details.

With all the knowns and unknowns, her response showed faith. (vs38)

This is a reminder that we don’t need God to work only on our schedules.

Mary end ups in worship. (Luke 1:46-55)

All of life should be lived open-handed to God.

Service to Others

Jesus had the same needs that any child would.

The gravity of who Jesus was would have been a tremendous weight for Mary. (vs32-33)

Worldly ideas attack the notion of service.

The Christian life isn’t to be set free from service, but to serve.

Mary had to deny herself to support her son.

Her hope and ours in service is the grace of God and His presence. (vs28)
