1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. 3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” 4 Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” 6 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. 7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it. 9 When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. 10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”

46 While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. 47 Then one said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You.” 48 But He answered and said to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” 49 And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”
Jesus honored His mother @ the wedding.
He held to His purpose in Matthew 12:46-50.
We honor all mothers today.
2. Jesus honored His mother by providing for her even on the cross. We have to provide for our parents in the different seasons of our lives.

25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” 27 Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.
8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
We are responsible to take care of our parents in the different seasons of their lives.
We are responsible to honor them in the different seasons in their lives according to their needs.
this gets hard as health fails.
providing for our parents get’s even harder for others as we deal with the fact that they are not coping well with the changing world around them.
we sometimes have to care for them without them knowing we are providing care.
The Lord will honor us as we do the hard work of providing for them.
3. Mothers, all Mothers, we rise and call you blessed.
3. Mothers, all Mothers, we rise and call you blessed.
28 Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her:
one of the blessings of being at church on the rock Abilene is that we get to minister to people who have lost their kids for whatever reason…
Children come back some way, some how.
we want you to know that the Lord loves you.
for those of you that could not have children we want you to know the role of aunt is very important in the life of a family (vice mom).
you have been a great blessing to the body of Christ.
you have been a blessing to your families.
to the bio-moms.
on days like today we say that we cannot do this without you.
you are a great blessing to this church!
