Good morning everyone!
We are so glad to have been going through this series on “In Christ I am” and today we are going to wrap up that series focusing on our moms.
Over this series we have learned about who we are in Christ. It is my hope that you see how Jesus defines you. We have looked at the following:
In Christ, we are
Raised to life
Not Alone
Family
Complete
Free
Today we are going look at the fact that we are victorious.
This is the best part!
Not only are we family in Christ and Free in Christ and all these other things;
He makes us VICTORIOUS
There are so many things we struggle with in life that keep us from being victorious.
The secret to know what things keep us from walking in victory is found in this question:
What things are not “IN CHRIST”?
What things will draw me away from being in Him?
[music] You can have all this world - Give me Jesus
We are Victorious! ¡Somos Victoriosos!
We are Victorious! ¡Somos Victoriosos!
Paul, to the Christians in Corinth, wrote to them about the our heavenly home. Let’s go to 1 Corinthians together.
57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Just a few verses earlier, Paul is describing the eternal home we have when Jesus comes back for His people.
ULTIMATELY, our victory is in heaven when Jesus brings those who were faithful home.
But we can have victorious living in Christ right here on earth.
I want us to look at what Victorious Living looks like by looking at a very popular passage in the book of Proverbs
That is in the “Virtuous Wife”
This fits our concept on Victorious living because the word virtue means
of “Moral excellence and righteousness” de "excelencia moral y rectitud"
of “Moral excellence and righteousness” de "excelencia moral y rectitud"
-American Heritage Dictionary (5th ed)
“Conformity to a standard of right: Morality”
"Conformidad con un estándar de derecho: moralidad"
“Conformity to a standard of right: Morality”
"Conformidad con un estándar de derecho: moralidad"
-Miriam Webster
True and lasting virtue is found in Jesus! Amen?
So let’s read
10 Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain.
12 She does him good and not evil All the days of her life.
13 She seeks wool and flax, And willingly works with her hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships, She brings her food from afar.
15 She also rises while it is yet night, And provides food for her household, And a portion for her maidservants.
16 She considers a field and buys it; From her profits she plants a vineyard.
17 She girds herself with strength, And strengthens her arms.
18 She perceives that her merchandise is good, And her lamp does not go out by night.
19 She stretches out her hands to the distaff, And her hand holds the spindle.
20 She extends her hand to the poor, Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of snow for her household, For all her household is clothed with scarlet.
22 She makes tapestry for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, When he sits among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them, And supplies sashes for the merchants.
25 Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all.”
30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands, And let her own works praise her in the gates.
