Worship of the Lord Almighty moved Hannah from Despair to Delight in God.
Her Despair (5-8)
Her Despair (5-8)
Hannah’s name means “Woman of grace”, but she was struggling because she felt as though she had not found grace with the Lord.
She despaired because she was Not a Mother.
Note that the Scripture says, the Lord “had closed her womb.” It was God’s will in her life at that point.
She despaired because she was Mocked.
She despaired because she was Misunderstood.
God will use times of deep disappointment and hurt to call us into His grace!

Hannah’s deep distress caused her to seek the “Lord of Hosts!”
The Lord of Hosts is the name of God that refers to His deliverance from distress.
It is a military term.
7 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah
She called upon the only one who could deliver her from distress and this set up a pattern of worship in her life.
Her request was for God to remember her and he did! - “In due time”
God uses times of waiting to teach us patience trust in Him.

She determined to wean Samuel and bring him to the Lord’s house for service.
“May the Lord establish His word...” (23)
There is no higher calling in a mother’s life than to guide her child in the worship and fellowship of the Lord.
She modeled worship in her life.
She molded worship Samuel’s life.
“For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition...”
She saw her child as a gift from the Lord that the had been entrusted to her.

Her delight was in the Lord’s deliverance from her distress!
1 And Hannah prayed and said, “My heart exults in the Lord; my horn is exalted in the Lord. My mouth derides my enemies, because I rejoice in your salvation.
Her delight was in seeing her son’s service to the Lord!
4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
Her delight was in the additional children that God granted. (2:18-21)
