Rest for you Soul

Matthew 11:25–30 CSB
At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, because this was your good pleasure. All things have been entrusted to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son desires to reveal him. “Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take up my yoke and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Hebrews 3:7–4:13 CSB
Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness, where your ancestors tested me, tried me, and saw my works for forty years. Therefore I was provoked to anger with that generation and said, “They always go astray in their hearts, and they have not known my ways.” So I swore in my anger, “They will not enter my rest.” Watch out, brothers and sisters, so that there won’t be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today, so that none of you is hardened by sin’s deception. For we have become participants in Christ if we hold firmly until the end the reality that we had at the start. As it is said: Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion. For who heard and rebelled? Wasn’t it all who came out of Egypt under Moses? With whom was God angry for forty years? Wasn’t it with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, if not to those who disobeyed? So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief. Therefore, since the promise to enter his rest remains, let us beware that none of you be found to have fallen short. For we also have received the good news just as they did. But the message they heard did not benefit them, since they were not united with those who heard it in faith. For we who have believed enter the rest, in keeping with what he has said, So I swore in my anger, “They will not enter my rest,” even though his works have been finished since the foundation of the world. For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in this way: And on the seventh day God rested from all his works. Again, in that passage he says, They will never enter my rest. Therefore, since it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news did not enter because of disobedience, he again specifies a certain day—today. He specified this speaking through David after such a long time: Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts. For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. Therefore, a Sabbath rest remains for God’s people. For the person who has entered his rest has rested from his own works, just as God did from his. Let us, then, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall into the same pattern of disobedience. For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. No creature is hidden from him, but all things are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give an account.

Living an Unsustainable life style

we often carry more than we can bite while living an underdeveloped spiritual life with God and then believe that thats God’s will because God is more concerned about doing more and more for him because some how he is pleased that way
“God doesn't have to abuse us to use us” Havilah Cunnington
This is a recipe for Anxiety
Search your heart for the things you are doing not because God has told you but because your doing it out of fear, guilt or shame.
The Truth is those things don’t originate from God
Actually Faith pleases God not the amount of Work your doing for him
How much of our work is actually being done in faith ?
Hebrews 11:6 ESV
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
we often do more for God than actually being with him
and we do not because we are afraid if we slow down some how we will miss his will or wont accomplish what God has called us to do we feel perpetually in this state of anxiety and anxiousness as if anxiousness is only ok for when we are anxious for his kingdom stuff
Philippians 4:6 ESV
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
the amount of work you do for God has to match your being with him only in your being with him will it sustain you
we often don’t feel the permission to take a break or slow down because if we do we feel we will be left behind.
Imagine breaking a leg while running and deciding to continue running through the pain and believing that it will heal as you go forward without giving it any care or attention.
i honestly think it would be more costly and get worse if you don’t immediately give it the medical attention it needs

We are called to Stewardship

Parker J. Palmer writes that “self-care is never a selfish act—it is simply good stewardship of the only gift I have, the gift I was put on earth to offer others.

Psalm 23:1–3 CSB
The Lord is my shepherd; I have what I need. He lets me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside quiet waters. He renews my life; he leads me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
We have compartmentalized dying to yourself as neglecting your needs.
we its clear through out scriptures that we have needs and when jesus died on the cross our needs didn't stop
