Good morning, friends, we’re so glad you have tuned in to hear God’s Precepts and Promises this morning brought to you by the Rome Church of Christ.
Happy Mother’s Day
We want to think about the devotion of some mothers of the Bible this morning
A Look at the Devotion of 4 Women
1.Ruth
2.Hannah
3.Mary
4.Woman of Canaan
DISCUSSION

Her Devotion to Family—Ruth

•Boaz recognized Ruth loyalty to Naomi (Ruth 2:5; 1:16-17)
•She fulfilled God’s design for the home (Titus 2:5; 1 Tim 5:8)
•Not “without natural affection” (Rom 1:28)

Her Devotion to Prayer—Hannah

•Hannah’s prayer led to a son (1 Sam 1:5, 10-11, 27)
•Her prayer of thanks (1 Sam 2:1-10)
•Not a coincidence her son was a man of prayer (1 Sam 12:23)

Her Devotion to the Word—Mary

•Mary not known to be a mother but surrounded by family (Lk 10:39-42)
•Sat at the Word’s feet
•Gave costly perfume to the Word (Jn 12:1-8)
•Mothers who give themselves to the Word of Life

Her Devotion is Persistent—Woman of Canaan

•Woman of Canaan persisted in asking for her daughter’s healing (Mt 15:21-28)
•She keeps on asking (Mt 15:22, 23, 25, 27)
•Jesus commended her persistent faith (Mt 15:28)

4.Woman of Canaan—persistent faith
