The first Mother

Genesis 3:13–20 NKJV
13 And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” 14 So the Lord God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life. 15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.” 16 To the woman He said: “I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you.” 17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: “Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. 18 Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field. 19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.” 20 And Adam called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.
This is how the first mother Eve is introduced, not a great introduction.
The first Women is shown to have been the cause for the fall of man. The first women or mother is responsible for having turned a whole race away from God.
So Eve, leaves a horrible stigma upon all women.
Paul reveals how every women can overcome this stigma, and fullfill the role God desiegned the women to do.
1 Timothy 2:13–15 NKJV
13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. 15 Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.
“ she will be saved”- She is used in generic term and broaden to refer to all women.
“in childbearing” - the childbearing is by which a women will save or deliver herself from the horrible stigma that Eve left upon all women.
Without childbearing, the women’s contribution would remian only to having been the cause of the fall of man.
However, God gave the women childbearing, so now she can contribute to the return of man back again to God by raising up a godly seed, through faith love and holinees.
In other words God has committed the responsibilty of raising up a godly generation for himself. Motherhood is something that God gave to reverse the stigma that has been placed upon the women for the fall of mankind.
With Motherhood, God has given the mother the power and influence to mold and shape and train her children in the way of the Lord.

How does Mother fullfill her role in bring up a Godly seed unto the Lord.

Spend time with them
Proverbs 29:15 NKJV
15 The rod and rebuke give wisdom, But a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.
the shame is on the mother and not the father, and this is because the primary responsibility to bring up a child in the way of the Lord is layed upon the mother.
When the mother neglects the Child, and he grows up by himslelf. This is not talking about just physical negletion, but relational neglect.
As a mother you have to love and value spending time with your child.
There is a period in the child’s life that God has given you powerfull influence to be able to direct the child in the way which he will not depart from when he/she is old
Proverbs 22:6 NKJV
6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.
we will now focus on what you need to do with that time.
2. Teach your children
Use every opportunity you have to teach your children the word of God.
The mother of King lemuel
Proverbs 31:1–9 NKJV
1 The words of King Lemuel, the utterance which his mother taught him: 2 What, my son? And what, son of my womb? And what, son of my vows? 3 Do not give your strength to women, Nor your ways to that which destroys kings. 4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, It is not for kings to drink wine, Nor for princes intoxicating drink; 5 Lest they drink and forget the law, And pervert the justice of all the afflicted. 6 Give strong drink to him who is perishing, And wine to those who are bitter of heart. 7 Let him drink and forget his poverty, And remember his misery no more. 8 Open your mouth for the speechless, In the cause of all who are appointed to die. 9 Open your mouth, judge righteously, And plead the cause of the poor and needy.
King Lemeuel was crediting his mother who had taught him several principles by which he was governing not only his life but his Kindgom
It is in this context that King lemuel in adoration to his mother reveals the charcteristic of virtues womman Verse 10-3
His mother had spend a lot of time in teaching her Son this important principles in the way of the Lord. As a result not only had she had a direct impact on her child and indirectly an impact on a Kingdom
Psalm 34:11 NKJV
11 Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
Deuteronomy 11:18–19 NKJV
18 “Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 19 You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
The mother of Timothy
2 Timothy 1:3–5 NKJV
3 I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day, 4 greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy, 5 when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.
The Eunice the mother of Timothy was able to impart to him the faith she had. This impact was not only felt by Timothy but also by those whom he ministered too. “the ripple effect’
In bringing up her son in the way of the Lord, she was also able to overcome the effect of the unbelieving father had on Timothy
Acts 16:1 NKJV
1 Then he came to Derbe and Lystra. And behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a certain Jewish woman who believed, but his father was Greek.
Rebeccas had a profound influence on her Son Jacob.
Genesis 25:29–34 NKJV
29 Now Jacob cooked a stew; and Esau came in from the field, and he was weary. 30 And Esau said to Jacob, “Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary.” Therefore his name was called Edom. 31 But Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright as of this day.” 32 And Esau said, “Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?” 33 Then Jacob said, “Swear to me as of this day.” So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob. 34 And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.
Jacob’s desire towards the birthright and the things of God, came from his mother Rebecca.
Genesis 27:5–13 NKJV
5 Now Rebekah was listening when Isaac spoke to Esau his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt game and to bring it. 6 So Rebekah spoke to Jacob her son, saying, “Indeed I heard your father speak to Esau your brother, saying, 7 ‘Bring me game and make savory food for me, that I may eat it and bless you in the presence of the Lord before my death.’ 8 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to what I command you. 9 Go now to the flock and bring me from there two choice kids of the goats, and I will make savory food from them for your father, such as he loves. 10 Then you shall take it to your father, that he may eat it, and that he may bless you before his death.” 11 And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, “Look, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth-skinned man. 12 Perhaps my father will feel me, and I shall seem to be a deceiver to him; and I shall bring a curse on myself and not a blessing.” 13 But his mother said to him, “Let your curse be on me, my son; only obey my voice, and go, get them for me.”
Genesis 32:22-32, Jacob wrestles with God for a blessing. This desire to to go as far as wrestling with God to receive God’s blessing came from seeing his mother going to such a great extent and risking her life securing the birthright for him.
His value for the things of God, came from seing how much his mother valued the things of God.
3. Control their Influence
Matthew 13:3–4 NKJV
3 Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them.
If you do not put up walls around your children to keep outside influence from their life, what you sow will be stolen from their heart.
A mother is suppose to be protective over her children
As a mother you wan’t to be the major influence on your child’s life.
So you have to be able to a certain extent according to your ability control their environemt inorder that avoid any bad influence in their life.
Genesis 21:8–13 NKJV
8 So the child grew and was weaned. And Abraham made a great feast on the same day that Isaac was weaned. 9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, scoffing. 10 Therefore she said to Abraham, “Cast out this bondwoman and her son; for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, namely with Isaac.” 11 And the matter was very displeasing in Abraham’s sight because of his son. 12 But God said to Abraham, “Do not let it be displeasing in your sight because of the lad or because of your bondwoman. Whatever Sarah has said to you, listen to her voice; for in Isaac your seed shall be called. 13 Yet I will also make a nation of the son of the bondwoman, because he is your seed.”
Genesis 16:11–12 NKJV
11 And the Angel of the Lord said to her: “Behold, you are with child, And you shall bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael, Because the Lord has heard your affliction. 12 He shall be a wild man; His hand shall be against every man, And every man’s hand against him. And he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.”
Sarah knew what type of child Ishmael was, he was a wild child. She knew if she let her son grow up with Ishmael he was going to negatively affect her child.
She also knew her child was not like any other child, he was a child of promise, a child of covenant. So she removed anything that she belived would negatively influence her child from the path God has set for him
Tough to Abraham the decision seemed harsh, God was in agreement with her decision.
King Jehosaphat
2 Chronicles 18:1–3 NKJV
1 Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance; and by marriage he allied himself with Ahab. 2 After some years he went down to visit Ahab in Samaria; and Ahab killed sheep and oxen in abundance for him and the people who were with him, and persuaded him to go up with him to Ramoth Gilead. 3 So Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, “Will you go with me against Ramoth Gilead?” And he answered him, “I am as you are, and my people as your people; we will be with you in the war.”
2 Chronicles 21:1–6 NKJV
1 And Jehoshaphat rested with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the City of David. Then Jehoram his son reigned in his place. 2 He had brothers, the sons of Jehoshaphat: Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azaryahu, Michael, and Shephatiah; all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel. 3 Their father gave them great gifts of silver and gold and precious things, with fortified cities in Judah; but he gave the kingdom to Jehoram, because he was the firstborn. 4 Now when Jehoram was established over the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself and killed all his brothers with the sword, and also others of the princes of Israel. 5 Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. 6 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Ahab had done, for he had the daughter of Ahab as a wife; and he did evil in the sight of the Lord.
The difference between Jacob and Esau
Genesis 25:27–28 NKJV
27 So the boys grew. And Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field; but Jacob was a mild man, dwelling in tents. 28 And Isaac loved Esau because he ate of his game, but Rebekah loved Jacob.
Jacob was a man who spent most of his time at home, while Esau spent most of his time outside the home.
A lot of parents, without realising it by letting their kids spend time outside with kids by themsleves are basically giving them up to the influence of the world.
Control the influence that is at home,
Becareful what you allow your child to see on the internet, on the phone or computer.
4. Pray for your Children
A mother’s prayer is very powerfull
You have to pray a hedge round about them.
You have to pray blessing over them.
Do not neglet your children in your prayers, and also keep other’s sister’s children in your life.
Jesus uses in Luke 18, a widow of an example of a persistant pray that brings result.
The prayer of a mother , especially the one that is in desperation will bring result.
Hebrews 11:35 NKJV
35 Women received their dead raised to life again. Others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection.
2 Kings 4:8-37 , The Elisha raises the shunamites women sons.
This women held on to elisha until he had brought her child back to life.
If you are able to hold on to God and prayer, God is will bring back even you spiritual dead child back to life.
Your prayer has power.
Prayer,
God to give you wisdon, understanding and strength to bring up a holy generation unto the Lord.
